Is It Unusual For Video Games To Make Mistakes In The Grammar Dept.?

The reason I ask is,in "GTA:VC"they spelled God without the capital G.

Yeah, I've seen multiple games with extremely bad grammer usage. Just can't think of any offhand. :-p I'm pretty sure some that come to mind were maybe the Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie games and maybe Conkers. I can't remember for sure though.

Hey, Banjo and Conker were good! Any mistakes were more likely than not intentional to add to the humor. But translated games (especially older ones) were notorious for bad grammar and outright bizarre translations. All your base...

Depending on the usage, that is not a grammar mistake.

In the Judeo-Christian usage, God is a proper noun, therefore capitalized. In any other usage of the word, it is not a proper noun, therefore does not need to lead with a capital letter.

Since I doubt that the characters were praying in a GTA game, it was likely not the usage in which it would be proper to have a capital letter.

But, as far as the subject topic, yes, grammar mistakes are very common in video games. Have you ever heard, "All your base are belong to us," or similar badly translated phrases from old school games?

You know those stupid trivial bits one loses sleep over? We'll thanks, This topic just sparked one of those instances. There's a NES game I'm trying to think of that had some similar grammer mistake. I can't remember the mistake or the game but at the time I was playing a lot of Rygar, TNMT2, Bionic Commando, Golf, Tecmo Bowl, Commando, Ikari Warriors, Metal Gear, and the list could go on but I bet everyone gets my drift. I'd buy a beer for whomever could cue me in on which game and what error that has eluded me. I mean it's probably not even one of those games, I can just see my game collection at the time I saw that error (and why I can remember the games I had over the error God only knows! and to who ever started this topic thank you, I'll have to snort Unisoms to sleep tonight.

Haha, yeah, I even notice when the subtitles don't match up exactly with the dialogue, say in the use of contractions. But I am a grammar queen.

Cute your Highness.

I find it funny when the grammar is wrong.

Think about it though. A massively large scale game is bound to get an error somewhere. lol Better it the grammar than the game itself.

I'd say that I'm a grammar "queen" as well, but I'm too scared of being called out in shame over a small typo... so I just say I have decent grammar to people.
