is it worth it?

my biggest concern is more of which is gunna eb around longer like how much longer can 360 be around at least 4 yars i would like
Most analysts predict a new 360 by 2010, or 2011. The PS3 will probably be around for considerably longer because of the disc space advantage it has.

But honestly, I would have to go for the 360, just because it has more exclusives, unless you have a good gaming PC. Then I would definitely get a PS3.

The PS3 could easily win next generation just because of the size.

Sounds good. I'm sure it's not an easy choice, but hopefully you will have made the right one!

Great choice. :)

I would go with the PS3. There's more big games coming out for it in the future. For the 360, what's already out is pretty much it, save for a few big games like Fable 2, Halo Wars, and Ninja Gaiden 2.

I know people who's elites have gotten the red ring of death.
The percentage is far lower. Among 360's with the falcon chipset, failure rates are around 5%, the norm for most consoles. So basically, he's just as likely to get a broken 360 as a broken PS3.

Yeah, I change my mind. The 360 is definitely worth the money, but you have to consider it's flaws. It has the highest failure rate for any console, of all time. But if you buy one, here are some games that I like and maybe you will too:

Rock Band
Halo 3
Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock
skate.
Gears of War
Oblivion
Call of Duty 4
Prey
Bioshock
Assassin's Creed
Mass Effect
The Orange Box

Ok...let's all attack Hines!

I was suggesting some games to try if he buys a 360...

See, I'm not the one who causes all the friction around here. ::)

why not suggest some games for the PS3 at the same time or how bout games that aren't multiplatform.

Because as a 360 owner, I personally don't know what games are the best for PS3, I just suggested some games that I played and enjoyed for the Xbox 360. Now, it seems as if you are trying to cause an argument with me. I don't know why, and I don't think you do either, so let's just get back on topic. ;)

Fair point Hines, and I agree. I'd say this topic has run its course, considering a bloodthirsty turtle already made his decision, so let's just drop it altogether. :)

Now that Blu-ray has apparently won the format wars that's a good reason to get a PS3 right there, but I'm still planning on getting a 360 first just because it has a bigger library and GTA 4 is coming out soon. Probably have both by Christmas.

So this is where my deleted post was...

And Frak, I'd go against buying a game console because of the format it plays movies in. Nice bonus, sure. Main reason, hopefully not.

There are people like that. My one buddy was at best buy looking for some TV's and such for a home entertainment center and the salesman kept going on trying to sell him a PS3. Low and behold most of the people that do spend money for their entertainment centers usually buy a PS3 also.

Yeah, the games come first, but my first DVD player was my PS2. I think it was like that for a lot of folks.

Ok...if you want a Blu-Ray player so bad, there are cheaper ones than the PS3 on the market now.
Yeah, but they don't come with other features the PS3 does, like being able to play PS3 game. You get more bang for your buck.

I still think most people are viewing the Blu-ray drive as a bonus though.

Are there? I didn't think any other Blu-ray players dipped below $400.

That was what my first PS2...and second was for. I wanted them for the games, the DVD player helped to sway my parents.
