Its a Laughing MAtter?

Recently I decided to search for a pair of the infamous "Heelys" in my size (8 is always in stock, but a more safe size 9 is a bit challenging to find). I thought they were quite interesting and cool, and as yet another experiment, see if they were as "cool" and as "fun" as the kids say. I did not think that there would be any harm in doing this for I did a similar experiment last year by purchasing those interesting "Crocs" to see if they provided any comfort as the people make them out to be (although they look weird for shoes, I found them to be perfect shoes for last summer and they are fun to wear when you just want to chill one day or for a rainy day).

Regardless, I have decided to search for Heelys. However, I have met a roadblock. This time when I tell people more than half of them laugh in my face at the shoes and the remainder say that they are alright and that they have always wanted to try them. I find it hard to believe either faction of people, and I am just shocked to know that they would just flat out laugh in my face. I find that it isnt a laughing matter. So now I have to question whether or not I should get them or not.

Any thoughts?

My kids have Heelys and they are the bane of my existence. Seriously though, they seem to enjoy them, but the drive me nuts trying to use them in the house, in grocery stores, in crowded parking lots, in generally unsafe areas. I'm constantly having to remind them "Not here! Not now!" I usually end up confiscating them or taking the wheels out lol.

But since I'm sure you won't be a danger to yourself and others you'll probably love them! Though they are kind of bulky, the kids won't admit to me whether or not they are heavier than regular shoes. But when I see the kids walk with them, they don't look very comfortable. My 8 year old nephew wore them to school once (with the wheels taken out) and said they made his feet hurt all day.

My brother has a pair, and he's um... not very good at using them.  I think he's pretty much given up on them cause he never wears them anymore.

They are pretty childish to have though, so that's why people laugh at you.

This is no laughing matter, it is super cereal you guys!!! J/k Starry. I think you should get them if you really want them and not care what others think :)

Yeah x2 has nice advice and hikari has made them sound like a bit of fun, lol. Well you all seem to be of the same alignment as others and not as the alignment of my roommates. IE you all didnt burst out laughing and what not.

Although they may be childish, I think I will still get them, they seem fun and looking at videos on youtube, I could get from my apartment to my classes than I could walking normally. I will have to practice though.

sometimes i go to school wearing some cosplay.... i don't really care what others say xD so don't feel bad starrynite.... in the inside they know they are fun but they don't have the strength to get out of the social standards to wear them

I find these things irritating because kids who wear them in the show room at my work pay no mind to the other people in there. And their parents are oblivious to what their kids are doing. My eldest son is not yet old enough to ask for these, which is a good thing. Because I hate them.
