Light Gun Shell Revealed!

Personally I could understand why PS3 would sell a tad higher because of BluRays but I don't know why the 360 is. I guess it all comes down to piracy also having an affect on pricing.

Who said anything about 60 dollar games?

:lol

My bad, I should specified that I meant Canadian dollars.

BUT, I also did assume Nintendo would jump on the $60/game bandwagon. What kind of media are they using, optical discs again or what?

ok... lets look at it this way. IF you get a light gun game for the Xbox or Ps2... you have to EITHER BUY the more expensive $60-70 version of the game to get a Guncon.... OR you have to buy a 3rd party gun. Either way, you have to get more to play this light gun game.

The light gun games I have played on PS2 (I haven't played any on Xbox) all had the option to use a regular controller ala House of the Dead. Even so, my original complaint (way back on page one) is that the wii-mote itself is just rife with possibilities for different controller "shells," and that these shells would be sold separately.

Just seemed like an ill omen to me.

That's half their campaign - games are too expensive. Nintendo states no first party game will surpass 49.99 for Wii. They are using a proprietary optical disc. Nintendo is trying to bring back the idea of a garage game - something long lost due to companies like EA and Sony Corp.

I'm sure you'll be able to use the Wiimote for shooters- but damn if I wouldn't like to have that Neo Zapper.. it's bad as hell. I love my zapper - best light gun ever.

Yes, and you have to give the people what they want. The American consumers will eat up the PS3 and all of it's games.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Yes the PS3 is a good system with good franchises. But you have to admit, the price will hinder the PS3 somewhat. Eventually people will buy them, but I don't see them selling like mad for a while. That's not including launch day, which they will sell out, but after that I doubt it.

The PS2 wasn't supposed to sell like crazy because of it's high price tag also, but it took me a year to find one that hadn't been sold in a store near-by. With all the marketing and publicity from rap stars and other celebrities, I'm sure price won't be an option. Of course it'll hinder the sales a little, but I don't see very much competition when people see Ludacris or Brad Pitt publicizing the PS2.

The PS2 was supposed to sell like crazy....and it did. It was riding on the success of the PS1, but now it's not so simple with people loving the Xbox right now and Nintendo stirring up interest.

It's going to be harder for Sony on this round since MS is a legit contender and Nintendo being the cheaper of the systems.

exactly..  ESPECIALLY with such a BIG price difference as well.  The Ps2 was able to sell well due to the Ps1 momentum... and the price point was pretty close to the original Ps1.

Though there may be many features, I honestly believe the Ps3 is going to have a harder time selling.  People are still complaining about the Xbox 360 being $400 (for the bundle) increased costs of peripherals... and games.

Some Ps3 games are RUMORED to hit $70.  I cannot imagine...  I don't see those games selling much.  I know I will get jumped on for this comment, but I woudl NEVER pay $70 for a CD or DVD based game.  I would pay $70 for a cartridge based game (depending on the game).  Regardless... IMO... anymore, $70 is too much for a game.  .. even $60 is imo. I hope Ps3 games never hit $70.

Essentially, like many games in the hay-day of the 80s or 90s were made - with two dudes sitting in a garage somewhere. Things have become so complicated and overwhelming that multi-million dollar budgets are essential. It's much like Iwata said recently - a game like Tetris today would be laughed at. We don't want to miss innovation and fun simply because of such culture.
