Link to the Past Saves

So, I was recently playing Link to the Past, and I had created a new save file, and there were other save files as well. But, when I put it in a second time, all of them were gone. I considered that the data might be erased, so I tried to start a new file. During name selection, no matter what letter you chose, a "w" was added to the name. And, when you try to start, it brings you back to the file selection screen without creating a save file. Is there any way to fix this? This has happened to me before, it went away for awhile, and now it's back.

Not as far as I know. It happened to me everytime I would take the cartridge out. That's when I decided to just get it on the Wii VC. >_>
 
Well, I figured it out. It seems like there's something loose in the cartridge. Every time I shake it, something rattles around. The only way to get my save back is to rattle it for a while, and hope it works, which it does sometimes. I don't know how long that can keep up, though.
 
The battery's dying, it's not surprising. And in the process, it's spazzing out a little.
 
Now, it's gotten to the point where if I save, it doesn't register sometimes. I've only just beat Aganhim (don't think that registered), so it looks like I'll never beat Ganon. Well, I can always try running through the game without saving...

So, I'm going to assume that Link to the Past is available on the VC? It'd be a little weird if it wasn't, considering its popularity...
