I honestly tried to come up with 10 games, but so far I have Resi 4. And that's on PS2. ;)

In no particular order:

Tales of Symphonia
Resident Evil 4
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
Soul Calibur II
Animal Crossing
Metroid Prime
Pikmin
F-Zero GX

you suck, hippy

:lol I tried BV, I really did. The only other game I might add to the list would be Smuggler's Run: Warzones, but there's really not much difference between that SR and the ones on PS2.

:lol you didn't try :)

come on.. I own around 80 cube games.  I can hit up 10 awesome ones.

I hate the ps2, but I know 10 games that are cool :lol
You too Nightwolf :lol you all need to get on the ball here :D

anyone that cannot find AT LEAST 5 from that list should be flogged.

and I said the 10 essential cube games.... they can be multiplatform games.
IE soul Calibur sold the best on the Gamecube. And it was a cool game (plus multiplatform).

BV :hat

But if its on all systems wouldn't is just be an "essential game" and not an "essential gamecube game"?

Anyway, I've got insomnia, so here it goes...

phantasy star online 3
Phantasy Star Online
1/2 Plus
too expensive, even if it was a decent series, which is isn't. I've never understood the fun of telling your character to shoot something and then watch him painstakingly shoot it, just to repeat the process 10,000 times more

Ikaruga (Only on the Jpn Dreamcast)
Never played it. Looked like fun, but also looked like I've played a thousand games just like it, and probably for free too.

Animal Crossing
A novelty at first, but once you realize the other characters aren't actually your friends, it gets a bit tiresome. The game also suffers from having a terrible lack of freedom in a game thats supposed to be influenced completely by the player. Unless you want to be nice and kind to everyone single character (and who actually wants to do this?) there is no fun to be had in this game

Super Mario Sunshine
This game has the terrible fate of being a sequel to one of the greatest games ever. Although its a solid game in its own right, it definitely feels like you've "been there, done that" and anything new that you can do you really don't care for.

Mario Golf
A golf game with surprising depth and a better mix of mario themed courses than we've seen before. However, other golf games are more in depth and there's still not enough Mario themed courses to really make it a Mario game.

Metroid Prime
For fans of the series. Or at least it must be, because I can't understand why anyone would play this game. This is the only FPS to consistently give me motion sickness, which might be because I was so bored while playing this game my eyes kept wandering off to more interesting things, like my wall.

Metroid Prime 2
Ditto.

Paper Mario
Unique art style, creative humor, and a nice mix of action oriented and turn based battles. The lackluster story and overall theme keep this RPG from being an epic one, making it a rent, not a buy. It will entertain you for a week or two, but once you beat it, it won't be good for much else.

Wario Ware
Interesting idea, and a great party game. Once you've seen all the games, and the surprise is gone, it loses its edge. Goo for awhile, but gets old fast.

Wario World
A 4 hour platformer that sports limited gameplay and coin collecting. BOOOORRRIIINNGGG.

Pikmin
A great concept ruined by a poor theme choice and an arcade-like feel. A true letdown by all accounts.

Pikmin 2
Definitely had some much needed improvements over the first, but it was too little too late.

Rogue leader 2
Truly was a standout game. Great visuals, immersive gameplay, lasting appeal, great theme, completely awesome.

Rogue leader 3
Managed to completely ruin everything about RL2. Flight missions were few, far between, broken up, and far too goal oriented. "Improved AI" was more frustrating than fun. Running missions sucked, hardcore.

Eternal Darkness
Unique, cinematic, playable, and chilling to the bone. Great game.

Baten Kaitos (I think it was only on GC)
Never played it, never wanted to play it. Why? Because it looked boring... sue me.

Tales of Symphonia
Played it, thought it was fine, hated the story, hated the characters, never wanted to play it again.

Res 1 remake
Fun game to play alone in the dark, but was faulted because it was a remake. Its hard to be an essential game when its been on other systems.

res evil 0
2 characters added some nice gameplay challenges, but you didn't miss out on much if you played REmake.

Res evil 4 (not on ps2 yet)
Outstanding everything. And supposedly the PS2 version sucks, so buy it for GC!

Bomberman Generations
Tacky, gimmicky, and overall lame. Fun may be had if you're 2 or younger, otherwise I woudln't count on it.

1080
Has an extreme inferiority complex after being paied up with SSX3.

Kirby's airride
Completely underwhelming. Did anyone care about this game? Even if it was good?

Mario Tennis
Provides marginal fun if 3 friends are available. Lack of online hurts it real bad, and the lackluster single player keeps it from being "essential" in any way.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
Copy of FF:CC = $60, extra controllers = $200, playing FF on GC with 3 buddies = Not worth it. For everything FF, there's a PS2.

Billy hatcher
Sonic for ages 6 and under.

Tube Sliders
Heard of it... maybe. If the game has anything to do with the name, I don't feel I've missed much.

Super Smash Bros Melee
An essential for anyone who has friends. One of the best games this generation of consoles.

Custom Robo
Multiplayer was fun if you collected a wide assortment of parts. Too bad collecting them meant playing the God-awful single player.

viewtiful Joe 2 (is that on anothe system yet?)
A highly stylized throwback to a genre long gone. Its hard to warrant calling this game "essential" when all it "essentially" was was outdated. 5 years too late was its biggest problem.

Waverace Bluestorm
Done better on other systems. I'll give it props for being a pioneer, but the torch has been passed.

Zelda: Wind Waker
Instead of getting the Zelda everyone dreamed of we got this nightmare. This game was far too easy, far too long, and far too cutesy to even warrant a purchase. Solid gameplay can only get you so far.

Zelda Collectors edition
This would be nice to have, though they're not really "GC games", and the controller doesn't work that well for some.

Zelda Ocarina of Time
N64 controller layout was better.

Luigi's mansion
Fun, for 4 hours. And then its over.

Mario Party 4
MP2 was better.

Mario Party 5
MP 2 was better.

Mario Party 6
MP 2 was much better!

Mario kart
No online? Brutal multiplayer battle courses. Unimpressive courses. Stick with MK64.

F-zero GX
Incredible speed, incredible challenge, incredible courses. Buy it now.

Donkey Konga
Rhythm games get tiresome quickly. Song selection pretty lame. Visuals definitely need some pizzazz.

Jungle Beat
Definitely a nice idea, but necessitating a different controller. Overall experience seems like its just not worth the hassle.

Bomberman Jetters
see: Bomberman Generations

Zelda: 4 Swords
Great idea, great execution, great way to screw it up: connectivity. Nintendo shot themselves in the foot with this one. They had a great product, but the connectivity was tacky, unnecessary, and expensive. Though admittedly it was neat at times.

There. Now you can't tell me that there's more than 5 essential GC games.

Nice try. Close, but not quite. I noticed a lot of those games are about Mario in some way, so they can be removed. Remove other kiddie games, and you're left with Resi 0, Resi 4 and Final Fantasy CC plus, uh, that's about it. It's a shame we didn't get Resi 0 on PS2, but we will get Resi 4 quite soon. During summer, I think. You do know it's confirmed for PS2, right? Thought so. We have more than enough Final Fantasies anyway on PS2, so that's not a big loss.

Yeah I wish there were more third party games on the Cube. You can only play Mario games for so long. And I dont care too much for RE4 for PS2. I dont want to settle for a game thats going to get stripped down somewhat. I'd rather have it in its full glory. I think Capcom should have stuck to their guns and left it on the Cube. Only because I want Nintendo to do better and I think by Capcom doing this they hurt them.

No offense, but, uh... what? Resident Evil 1 was released on PS1, and they kept it there until Resi 0. That didn't quite work as the average GC owner and average Resi player don't exactly match. They admit they did a mistake by bringing Resi back to the playstation where it belongs and have been since day 1, and you want to keep it on GC? Riiiiiiiight.... ::)

Yeah I do, and so what? It doesnt "belong" on the playstation. Nor does it "belong" on the Cube. Its not a Sony product its a Capcom product. But I do wish that it stayed there simply because it gives the Cube a good third party developer and a great third party game (RE). Oh and I own almost every RE out there. They kept it on the PS up until RE: code veronica, which was on the dreamcast. The whole point of me wanting it to stay on the Cube is so that it can bring more fans to the Cube. It wasnt a mistake, its just that PS or Sony stockholders complained that it wasnt on the PS. And if I had a choice between both the PS version and the Cube version? I would take the Cube version. The PS version had to be stripped down because it cant handle all of it. If Im paying for a game I want the best version out there. And thats the one on the Cube. Oh one more thing, it takes a lot to offend me. ;)

So basically we have a very successful series on the playstation, make one game on the gamecube, and now it suddenly belongs there? Riiight. I could mention that they added an X to Code: Veronica and released it on PS2, or that Resi 1-3 got released on PC as well as Resi Online, but I don't. The entire reason why they released Resi 0 on the cube in the first place was to try to get more people to buy it. The result is they released (-ing) Resi 4 on PS2 as well as the cube since their tactic failed. This way they still have Resi on the cube, but the playstation people get it as well.

But think about it. The game cube have a lot of "kiddie" games like Mario and Zelda, plus one Resident Evil. Isn't that a bit strange? Lots of games for kids and one for adults. Two, if you count Resi 4 which is on PS2 as well. Why would an adult buy a game cube just to get one game? :? Even I don't do that.

no..  i wouldnt get a game cube just to get one game.. And i agree with creep. i would buy the game cube version of res evil 4 before i bought it on ps2. just simply because -------

on ps2 50$ for a good game------ then I could get it on cube for the exact same price with 1/4 better poly count...

Kiddie games?  Ok.. remove the mario games... but a lot of those games aren't kiddie.
Zelda is not a kiddie game just because its "animated." The new zelda will be killer as well.  Eternal darkness is not kiddie.
Animal crossing is kiddie (in a way) but is one of the most addicting games ever.

And you know why the RE series isn't selling well?  Honestly, I think people are tired of it.
RE1 sold pretty well on the cube... but look... 2,3,and Cv did not.  Why?  THEY'VE BEEN ON 2 OTHER SYSTEMS YEARS before.
0 and 4 sold slightly well.  Anymore, there are so many releases coming out people cannot budget for everything.  If you look across all systems, the best selling games do not reach more than a couple hundred thousand.  Only a select few reach 1 mil.  I honestly believe that RE4 and all those other games would not have sold as much... or much more than the Gamecube.  Case in point: Resident Evil: OUTBREAK.
Other case in point, What happened when Viewtiful Joe was put over to the PS2?  OR Super Monkey Ball, or Sonic Mega collection. They didn't sell that well.  Partly because they have been on the cube for awhile.  And RE4 DOES look better on the Cube.  It will look good on the Ps2... but it won't be the best.

And stealth... your opinions on those games are a bit slighted.  Especially Ikaruga.   I see now why the Cube is not doing so well.
I don't care if they are YOUR opinions... opinion or not, a lot of them are downright wrong.  You did hit it up right with games such as F-zero GX, bomberman generations, and some others though.
And Mario PArty 5 was cool :)  yeah... MP 1 and 2 were the best..... but mp5 is still cool.
And if you haven't played a game, you shouldn't comment on them "IE BAten Kaitos."  Its a good game.

Oh yeah... I forgot that Sega Volley Ball game.... many people did enjoy that, and it received good ratings.

Ps2 = overrated piece of faulty hardware.... yeah, has good games, but most suck.
Xbox = overrated PC.  I can get 80% of the games for the PC... well..;..I do have 80% of those games on the PC :lol and they are better versions.

If you want, I can start listing 3rd party games that are good because there are a good number that are fun and good.... and regardless if they are multi-system.
