LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth II

Ares

Ares God Of War
I dont know if this is old news or not, but I was looking at some articles on IGN and came across this.

"An interesting move to make the game mean more to individuals is the ability to create and customize their own hero. This means everything from appearance to abilities. While it's been done before in the Warlords: Battlecry, that other series couldn't come close to representing the power each of these heroes possessed like BFME could. Being able to create a unique hero is a pretty great thing."

Sounds pretty neat to me...

No....just no.

EA is the single most evil company on Earth. Have you seen the intro to their "So you want to be an Electronics Art employee video"?

Looks like a pretty decent expansion. I hope there's more variety of units though, in BFME 1 Gondor only had like 8 different units! Maybe I'm just spoiled from AOE II, that game is one of the best RTS games ever IMO. I probably won't buy this game simply because AOE 3 comes out in November, I hope it's as good as the first two.

so wait... EA took this over? I thought EA did BFME 1

you know... BFME hasn't even been out 1 year yet.

I love having games faster, but dang... either people aren't enjoying games as long.... or people play games too much.

I still enjoy the 1st one :-\

BV :hat

Look at all of The Sims expansion packs, they're not even that much different from each other. I think EA should just stick to sports, they're not very good with creating anything else.

Actually, Spellforce combined real-time strategy with roleplaying and let you create your own hero from scratch just like in a normal roleplaying. (gender, name, class, skills etc). It worked brilliant, but in Lord of the Rings? Hm... well... Although we do get Lord of the Rings Online in a little while, so perhaps...

As for what I think about this, I obviously got the first game and played it quite a bit. Problem is the base building has got to be the worst piece of sh.. I have seen in any RTS game ever, and the AI didn't work at all. Shortly put, a single Ent managed to wipe out my entire army since I didn't pay attention to them right away.(I was trying to locate a farmer). This because not one of those morons bothered to tell me they were under attack, and thus I couldn't tell them to defend themselves? Those nimrods just stood there, letting the ent wack them alll one by one.

But fix that, and this game could be quite good. The first one had serious potential, so it could work. I doubt it, but it could. ;)

Ents are strong, but one Ent against fifty footsoldiers is nothing. And yes, the archers upgraded to Fire Arrows after killing only a few units. This can include killing your own units to upgrade them, so the Ent should perhaps have stayed home that day. :D But hey, except for some stupid things like bad AI and really bad voice-over, the game is quite good. It looks great, has an evil campaign, let you finally kill Frodo and even include the coolest skirmish I've seen yet. This time you get a ranking in skirmish, even when playing offline. This makes skirmish useful, which again extends the lifespan a few months. To bad no other game have this option.
