Mass Effect. A true next gen rpg?

im hearing from more and more websites that the gameplay is unoriginal and slightly boring

I'd like to see all these sites you're talking about? I'm hearing nothing but good about this game.

Maybe it's the site in his mind. Because slightly boring would be...how do I put this, not in a highly scored game.

I have actually heard that the combat is nothing new or revolutionary. Its not awful but I don't think it will be the strongest part of the game. That's basically what they said about it in the GI review.

I don't see how that'd make it boring.

According to Game Informer's review, Mass Effect is anywhere between 18-30 hours.
I'm thinking that is only for the main quest.  They didn't say specifically if they were talking about jus tthe main quest, or the entire game, but from what previous info I have about the game length, 18-30 hours seems more accurate for only the main storyline, without side quests.

Maybe not boring, but it doesn't seem to be the strongest point of the game, like in Jade Empire and a few other Bioware games.

Yeah, but also add in all the different classes and types of endings. :)

Of course, the replay value is gonna be huge, like it was in Kotor (played through it 4 times light side, 2 times dark side, so I've put almost 200 hours into it, lol).  They were talking about the length of one playthrough though, and the numbers they gave don't seem accurate with any of the numbers I've heard for playing through all sidequests, and the main quest.
