Mega Man 7 on NES? (Fake but WOW!)

Someone did a homebrew pirated cart of putting the entire game of "Mega Man 7" from the SNES into 8-bit NES form...an amazing job!
 
After seeing what MEga Man 7 actually looks like, I have to say this is pretty incredible
 
Was that homebrew or a Japanese (Rockman) version of the game?

I mean, the graphics certainly don't look like the SNES version, but it would take quite a bit of programming to port back from SNES to NES. I always thought that it was silly that Mega Man 7 was on the SNES really. I preferred Mega Man X as far as Mega Man games on the SNES though...
 
Good questions. Mega... Any indication?

Mega Man X rocked. I remember I got into mmx and Mega Man on the original Game Boy the most.

is this NES version easier than the SNES....because i had a lot of trouble with the final boss
