Memory Card Reformatting

Wow, my memory card randomly erased every save file I had on it. AHHHH!!! :hh

This happened to a couple friends of mine too. Does anyone know the cause or how often this happens? I didn't remove it while saving or loading, and I take good care of all my gaming accessories.

Ohhh thats too bad Strubes. That happened to me one time. I played a demo that was sent to me in the mail by Sony and I guess it had a virus on it or something.

I was 90 hours into Xenosaga! AHHH!! :hh

lol well, I haven't played it in forever anyways (on the account of the disc being broken) so I forgot most the story anyways. Just gives me more reason to get another one. :p

Thats never happened to me but i always take mine out untill i need to save unless im playing a game that has to have it in

Memory cards dont last forever. They usually have a set number of saves they can handle. How long have you had it?

Idk, I've had the memory card for about 2 years now? They don't last forever....so does that mean after a certain amount of time, they'll jus be deleted? I like my Xbox's hard drive so much better than PS2 memory cards.

Hmm, that's quite a short time. Do you save a lot? Hard drives are much better. But dont count on them either. They have more problems than solid state memory, such as a memory card.

Hmm..I have alot of saves on that card..or well had...only one save for Xenosaga though. What problems are there with the hard drive for the Xbox? Anything I can do to prevent anything? :-\

Yea, it sucks. I lost another one that fell outta my pocket on my way to a friend's a while back. I was walking over the crosswalk, and it must have fallen there. :'( Poor memory card.

haha o well :lol

I mean hard drives in general. They are more delicate. They cant withstand shock like a memory card. They can overheat. They dont always write data correctly and get corrupted, etc. Another question, is your memory card an official Sony card?

Yea, it's official. See-through blue. Got it in a 2-pack for $29.99 I think.

About the hard drives, is that why there's an option in the Xbox that makes it able to automatically turn off if left unattended for 6 hours?

Yes. you always want to access the HD as minimal as possible.

I know that some games will automatically do that. I have two games in my collection that has an "auto save" feature, and I don't plug in my memory card untill I am dar sure that it won't wipe anything else out.

As far as your PS2 just reformatting your card, I dunno. Maybe there's something going on where your card is losing power during a save?? It just seems so wierd!!
