Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection for PS2 (March 2008) in the USA

Okay after a while, both parties (GameStop and Play-Asia) were confused on if this was a double pack or a trilogy...

So to confirm it...yes indeed it IS a trilogy...

Okay here's the low-down on what is in this trio package:

"Metal Gear Solid" is in the Original Playstation Black Disc format. If playing on a Playstation 2 system, you WILL need an Original Playstation memory card in order to save your progress.
"Metal Gear Solid" is backwards compatible and has the ability to save on ANY Playstation 3 system.
"Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance" and "Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence" are only backwards compatible on 20GB, 60GB and 80GB Playstation 3 Systems.

So my question of which MGS1 it was, it's just a direct port of the PS1 game

I got it today in the mail and I must say, lovely packaging. The disc are very plain, white disc actually. Sort of matching the style of the Japanese PS2 games it seems (White and black) MGS1 is in a double CD case, the artwork is beautiful. Also, for veterans of MGS1, the location of the codec codes is in the manual.

Good lord XD no sadly.

What grinds my gears...is MGS3 is missing disc 2...which contains the original Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake....

It is Subsistance...but the main reason the 2nd disc was removed, was it had the online mode on that 2nd disc. Now since the servers are down and no more. I guess Konami felt it would be pointless to release it.

I hate to interject, however, it doesnt seem like this was something that was heavily advertised, if fact I didnt realize it was available until I just say this thread pop up today. Ultimately, I do think that I need to cop this title since I have always wanted to go beyond the classic demo disc mission of Metal Gear Solid, but ultimately I will definitely have to try to get it because each game sounds interesting.
