Metroid Prime 2: Echoes

So, does anyone have it yet?

I nearly bought it a few days ago but I actually still have unfinished buisness with the previous Metroid Prime. I'm getting it for Xmas now.

But if anyone does have it, please do tell.

I was never a big fan, but I have a friend who loved the first one and bought this one a week or so ago. He said that if you liked the first one you'll like the second one, basically the same game just different levels and a new weapon or two.

I played a demo of it.

While it seemed really good, having to activate beacons in the "dark world" got very annoying and switching between the two worlds is gonna suck hard.

I just don't have enough money to buy it.

I have played it and it is an awesome game.

No one else has played this? I mean heck... there has to be more than a couple.

I played a demo in the store, and thought the controls sucked. I'm used to using two sticks to move, not one to move crappily around and then hold another to aim.

I wanted the controls to use both sticks.  Personally, I hated how it controlled like Goldeneye used to, since it gives (in my opinion) less control than two sticks ever would.

Personally, I think it's a first person shooter because it's in first person, and a shooter.  I don't care how many puzzle elements or 3rd person parts (morphball) there are in the game, it's a FPS.  You can call it whatever you want, but please stop arguing the point.  That other thread about GC vs. PS2 and Xbox was already wasted away to nothing, let's not start it here.

And it's not as though only FPS games can control with both sticks, I know a fair amount of other games that use both.

Well guess what. You did not make this game. You can go play every other gun game that is out there, where you can use both of your sticks.

This is a Metriod game, that may not mean much to you, but to many others it means a lot. Many fans were very happy that they didn't turn Metriod into a regular run and gun game, but they kept the very good platforming and exploring elements that Metriod is known for. What other FPS are you going to find that in?

If you don't like the game, that is perfectly fine. But do not mock me, I know what I'm talking about. Metriod Prime is WORLDS away from any other FPS, and it plays nothing like any of the other first person games. Congrats on your opnion.

Good day sir.

You might want to pass on RE4 as well then..IMO the way it's set up reminds me a lot of Metroid Prime. I think it's in the way they utilize the GC controller.

Personally though I can understand. I went from playing Halo into playing the MP2 demo and it was hard not to try and use both sticks. But once I actually put some time into Metroid Prime, it wasn't a problem. I got used to it.

When did I say I disliked the game :?

I merely said that I disliked the controls. I think the graphics are incredible, it has an awesome story (from what I know of the previous Metroid games) and is fun to play.

As for genre, I personally don't care, and never will. It never mattered to me, as I buy games on whether I like them or not. Genre has no impact on that. I refuse to argue like a foolish child with you over such a stupid topic. I said FPS, you say whatever you say, and still, no one cares. No one will care. If you wanted to judge every game like you are with MP2, should Halo be a FPS or a FPS-Driving/Flying/Racing/Action sim, since it includes all those things? What about UT2k4, where there's thousands of mods that turn the game into anything you can think of?

Don't reply, I'm just throwing that all out there to show my dislike for the foolish "It's a ________ not a ________ for these reasons..." argument that ruined the GC vs. PS2 vs. Xbox topic. Again, no one cares one bit what genre anyone else classifies a game into.

How would you know when you only played a demo? Look, I don't mind anything else, it just irks me when people call Metriod Prime a FPS when it isn't at all. It's in the first person... thats about it. Don't jump on me for it after all you came on here and said was the controls sucked.

Personally, I think Metroid Prime handles the FPS controls better than any other FPS i've played.
I'm with you on that one. Besides the first Halo of course, the axis on all the other FPS are jerky.

Sorry man, it was somewhat late that night and I was tired. I shouldn't have jumped on your case. Entirely my fault, and I dutifully apologize.

You are all a bunch of confused trolls :lol :D

did I just say that ::D :lol

um... too much caffeine?!

Thats a nasty cough you got there...

MP and MP 2 fall more under their own catagory of FPA. I don't understand why people can't accept that genre. Many act as if the ones already made will be the only ones to exist. Metroid Prime isn't the only game where it's in first-person, has a gun, and doesn't revolve around shooting everything in sight.

Its just that a lot of games combine things and do things slightly differently. If we make an accpetion for the MP series, then we can make a lot of exceptions for a lot of other games. Doing this is just unnecessary, as the genre's we already have can categorize every game that's out there.

I think it's because people see that it's in first person, and you hold a gun, so they automatically assume it's a FPS. Other games in first person w/out guns, such as the latest Myst game (Uru), are considered adventure games.
