Metroid Prime 3 discussion.

1up.com's preview of Metroid Prime 3 has mixed feelings

Apparently, they say the controls are too imprecise, and tries to do too much. Most of the buttons are in awkard places, and MP3 tries to be a full FPS, rather than a FPS/Adventure, which may be good depending on what you like about Metroid Prime 3.

But some of the auxiliary commands suffer from unwieldy button placement, as hitting down on the tiny D-pad to launch homing missiles feels too imprecise and choosing visors by holding down Minus (and then moving the cursor to a specific screen quadrant) becomes way too obtuse in the heat of battle.

They aren't pleased with the graphics much either, but we all know graphics aren't the Wii's strong point. For a Wii game, Metroid Prime 3 looks really good.

Similarly, it's tough to stack Corruption's graphics against what you'll see in first-person games on other consoles. As expected, the same sublime artistry and cohesive aesthetic sensibility from the previous Prime titles return here, but at the same time, this looks awfully close to its GameCube forerunners.

They don't like the sub-menus either.

Seriously, these multilayered interactive submenus feel rather over-the-top. For example, it probably takes a good 15 seconds (and three different motions) to bring up Samus' Phozon scanner.

But, if you read into it, they have alot of good stuff to say as well, so take a look!

I still see this as a must-have for any Wii owner, and am going to get it myself when I purchase another Wii soon. :)

yeah, well they can kiss it :lol

i bet they did the same thing with bioshock

Re: 1up.com's preview of Metroid Prime 3 has mixed feelings

No, actually. They love Bioshock. It's submenus are super easy. Of course we need to base our opinions for ourselves though when the game comes out.

There are review embargos for most games. Basically, even though the site may have actually already played and written their review on a game, they aren't allowed to post until a certain date, usually after the game itself is actually out, so that it doesn't spoil the game. In the case of Bioshock, IGN was supposed to have an embargo until the 21, but since Toys R Us accidently broke street date and people managed to get ahold of it, they let IGN post their Bioshock review earlier.

Re: 1up.com's preview of Metroid Prime 3 has mixed feelings

Yeah, in terms of controls, you don't need alot of time. Then again, maybe it just takes longer to get used to then usual. I guess we'll find out soon. :)

I think this game is gonna be cool. I played the first one, and while the whole game seemed really linear, at the same time it was not. It was really trippy man.

gametrailers preview, is very positive, and some of the flaws of other metroid games are out so i think this game is capable of getting a 10 in many other places

Re: 1up.com's preview of Metroid Prime 3 has mixed feelings

I just hate the constant graphic comparisons to games on other consoles. The Wii can't do 360 or PS3 visuals. It's not that powerful. So pointing out that Metroid Prime 3 doesn't look like Bioshock is like, "Thank you Captain Obvious." I don't need anyone to put that in a preview because it's something that I feel is obvious to anyone who cares. I mean, do you think there's anyone out there who really expected Metroid Prime 3 to compare graphically with Bioshock or Halo 3? I doubt it.

It would be more relevant to compare MP3 to other games on the same console. Twilight Princess, for example. Or even compare it to Metroid Prime 1 and 2, which is what IGN's preview did. :)

Re: 1up.com's preview of Metroid Prime 3 has mixed feelings

besides it's not like graphics are really important, i've seen games with good graphics but with horrible gameplay,

anyway, the thing of the accomplishments seems like a very good idea for replay value, and i hope there is a hard mode option

Re: 1up.com's preview of Metroid Prime 3 has mixed feelings

They do compare it to the other Metroid Primes in terms of graphics.

As expected, the same sublime artistry and cohesive aesthetic sensibility from the previous Prime titles return here, but at the same time, this looks awfully close to its GameCube forerunners.

Re: 1up.com's preview of Metroid Prime 3 has mixed feelings

Yeah, they're just pointing out that the graphics haven't improved much over the Gamecube titles....but then again, if the story and controls are solid, it doesn't even matter.

ign once said that the game controls better than any console fps ever

Re: 1up.com's preview of Metroid Prime 3 has mixed feelings

You can't spell ignorant without IGN. Who knows...it's an opinion...just see what yours is when the game is finally released. I have a feeling the controls will be very crisp and smooth. :)
