He's pretty much saying that today's games are "Too long"and takes a jab at the other consoles it seems

My point of view, I say he's right, especially RPG's, if you're one of those people who complain that 40 hours isn't enough in a game, you need to be bruised...because if I could squeeze in 40 extra hours in my life these days, I would be so organized...

If I find the time to finish a game within 10-12 hours. I feel like I really accomplished something that day lol (Kind of like finishing a novel that's 899 pages in one day)

I feel that Video games are going the way of the old Mtv. It used to be solely about the games. Now they want to put advertisements and all that in games and mostly support games that are really popular. Not too many developers want to take risks and make unique games. They rather roll with the crowd and make games that are pretty much guaranteed to sell, despite the fact that the gameplay isnt up to par.

Well, really, it depends on the difficulty that you set it on when you start. For instance, if you start Halo's campaign on easy, it probably could easily be done in 10-12 hours. But, if you decide to go on legendary, that length could possibly double or even more, which will make the game more time-consuming. I believe quite a few games have more than one difficulty.

Heck 10-12 hours for Halo 1? I still can't do that lol Whenever I play FPS, I like to explore everything I can

As Bob Dylan said, "the times they are a changin' ". Miyamoto just needs to pick up the pace and get with the times. It sounds to me like Miyamoto is frustrated because he's losing touch with what used to be his audience. He complains about customers wanting long, expansive games. Then he complains about Microsoft and Sony for giving customers what they want. I think he should start listening to what customers want, and instead of criticising successful games, he should find out why they are successful.

He also mentions something about the revolution being made with "family" in mind. I don't see why Nintendo is pushin this whole "family friendly" videogame thing. All it does is make them look kiddy. If they haven't caught on to that by now then they really have lost touch with their audience.

No offense to stealth, but screw the times. You shouldnt go with the times, but you should help steer it in a better place. Although, "family friendly" isn't the way to go. They should listen to the customers and draw from that and make great and unique games. Not just giving them what they want but expanding on them and giving them things that they probably havent even imagined yet. They need to innovate, and that goes for every game developer out there.

Funny you mention that, "Family" image they have been pushing for 20 years, now that I think about it. Why else would the first successful Nintendo system was called "FAMILY COMPUTER" Famicom lol
