Most Instruction Manuals That Come With The Game Suck !!

Wii games always have a tutorial sadly, so booklets are pretty much just there for art and copyright purposes I'd say. Since, lord knows, Wii has some whacky control setups even for the most basic games. (i.e. Manhunt 2) *shivers* Whoever was in charge of the control setup for that game, needs to be slapped badly.

I like how every FPS on the 360 has the Halo scheme no matter what. It's nice to have that kind of control-security packed down nicely :lol

The Publishers are already dealing out millions of dollars for the games. It doesn't cost them much more to add a few pages to an instruction manual.

I just get too bored of the tutorials. I'd rather read a couple pages real quick then spend 15-20 minutes learning the controls via the tutorials in the game.

I personally really enjoy reading through instruction manuals. I'd sit there and read them cover to cover. There's features in there that most of the time they just don't mention in the game.

It does when you're printing them in the thousands and possibly millions (if the game is really good.)

No disrespect, but I highly doubt it.

And even if that were true, and the game was REALLY good, I think the sales would be enough to obliterate the price of a few pieces of paper.

x100

i personally prefer reading the manual and having a small tutorial or an optional tutorial (like fire emblem games.... geez good thing those are optional or else i would have to listen to the same basic gameplay features over and over again... all i want to know from a new fire emblem are the new features)

however, sometimes reading the manual helps in case i forgot something said in the tutorial and can't go back to it, in fact most of the time i check manuals just because i forgot something.

That's fine, but considering I work for a publisher, I know of what I'm talking about. No disrespect to you either. And because they're selling a lot of copies. The money that they save from not printing those extra pages makes them even more profit.

I'm gonna take that with a lil grain of salt..lol..

But I can't believe we're arguing over a few pages. I doubt if a company were to lose money, let's say a few million..they would say "crap, shoulda made that guide 20 pages instead of 24!". I understand it's not the sole reason, but if publishers are too lazy and greedy to not care about informing the customer in exchange for a few more dollars, I have pity for them.

That's fine. But just because you refuse to believe me doesn't make you're assumption correct.

That's why they create in-game tutorials. Like I've said before, the majority of the gaming public does not read the manuals. So why spend extra money on pages when that extra money can go into polishing the game? Sometimes, it is due to greed and laziness, but most of the time it's not.

I know..I'm just saying it's hard to believe..like I said..nothing against you as a person.

I suppose so. However, the in-game tutorials for each game are also, for the most part, found in manuals anyways. Like aleeock mentioned, there's often features found in the manual that aren't talked about in the game.

I know and I of all people can be skeptical and cynical as well. It's just that, I really have no reason to lie about this. I'm not trying to win an argument or anything. I'm just trying to inform what I know as someone who has seen the insides of a publisher and how their mindset works. I can see where you and others are coming from, but I'm posting so that I can help put some perspective on this topic. Trying to put you guys in the shoes of the developers/publishers. It's best to always hear both sides of the fence.

True, but hopefully a responsible publisher/developer puts that info in the remaining pages. If this is not the case, then yeah, they deserve to chewed out by the gaming public.
