Okay, so everyone knows I am using a computer that's better suited in the Smithsonian Institute or a land fill. It's old. Dirt old. As in I am sure Moses used one.
Anyway, over the last few weeks it's been lagging like real hard. Sometimes completely locking up. And just as my frustration overloads, the mouse goes belly-up.
Today my wife buys a new mouse. An optical mouse. No rolling ball here. Nice too. But since she hooked it up, my computer is running like it is two days old and at the cutting edge of technology. Can a mouse have an adverse effect on how my computer runs??

Did you install any drivers for it? Did it come with a disk? Honestly it really shouldn't matter but it's best to install whats on the disk (assuming it came with one.) Next, is it a USB or a traditional PS/2 plug? What operating system are you running? Did you download or install any new programs lately? Did you try running any spyware removal software or any anti-virus?

I didn't install anything. But I don't remember if it came with a disk. It said that it was compatable with my OS. They both were PS/2. And I am running Windows 98. And no, I don't install or download anything. And I have no clue how to run any spyware removal. And the last antivirus came up with nothing.
It's just running better. That's why I asked, because no other variables changed other than the mouse. Everything loads way faster, and it hasn't had a hint of lag at all.
Or it could be that someone did install spyware programs on my HD, and found that I'm boring to spy on and moved along elsewhere. :lol

:lol I thought it was giving you problems. Oh well in that case, it could be your mouse. Your previous could have been dirty inside where the track ball lives. But other than that Ive never heard of a mouse universally improving a computers performance.

Neither have I. Unless the old one was so dirty it wasn't reading correctly and was creating lagg-type symptoms.
