Movie editing program?

What I am wanting to do is cut out the commercials of a football game I recorded this weekend so I can put it on a dvd and not have to sit through them...........are there any good free programs i can use to do this? Its a .mpg file........i can convert it if i need to.
 
I havent heard of any FREE ones. Maybe Windows Movie Maker. If you can find someone with a Mac they already have iMovie on their computer and that can do it.

The other problem I had with movie maker was it cut my game into literally a thousand different clips..........Whats up with that?
 
As soon as you click to import, hit cancel on the popup window. The popup automatically tries to make everything into a million clips.

I use Adobe Premiere Pro.

Umm..you can only save them as .wmv files. Saving the project files is just to go back and finish up on what you were doing before ya' know? I wish you can save .mpg, .avi, etc other than just .wmv that's the only thing I hate about Movie Maker.
