I have said this before in numerous places, but I have heard of several errors about the 360. Some have already been stated, like overheating. But i also heard about some power supplies that catch fire, or the system digging gouges into the disk (when stood up), and some noise problems. At this point, I am willing to bet that most don't have any problems and some reports may have been false.

I wouldnt know how much that costs ive had mine for a coulpe years and it has never had a problem
I heard once that the lens went out in someone's PS2 (which happened to a lot of people I know). He opened the case to see what was wrong, and when he called tech support, they said they would have to charge $70 or something just to look at it, since he opened the case. After that, it might cost $50 or so to fix it. Of course, he just bought a new lense and put it in for about $20.
