MS went balls to the wall @ GDC 2008

Alot of people felt like MS had no chance of gaining any type of footing this year with so many PS3 exclusives and Wii's novelty. But GOW2 announcement, APB is gonna be absolutely a time wasting life destroyer., and Fable 2 being shown in full gameplay is major. MS might have done just enough to gain my trust...other than the fact that my 360 is DEAD!

Don't even start. ::)

dont you tell ME not to start. i have to go an entire month without my 360, I'm actually going out tomorrow to buy an original Xbox game that I missed just so i can pass the time. But back to my point, I was kinda thinkin they'd unveil a motion sensor 360 controller, seeing as how it does make a huge difference in the way I play certain games. actually pulling back to shoot the ball in NBA 2K8 really is a satisfying experience.

Uh, yeah, I'm telling you not to start. I'm on my third Xbox 360. You have no idea.

I always kind of wondered about this once the Wii started to gain momentum, and once the PS3 controller included six-axis motion controls. I always thought that Sony was making a huge PR mistake by doing that, because the Wii has always been marketed as a console that was going to prove innovative gameplay was more important than more powerful processing power, and by adopting motion controls Sony was admitting that Nintendo was right.

Microsoft has always said that this generation of gaming is about High Definition, not motion controls. The reason you buy a 360 instead of a Wii is because you want to take advantage of your 1080i HDTV and true dolby surround sound. If the 360 starts doing motion sensitive games as well, then I think they'd be tipping their hat to Nintendo by admitting that Nintendo was right, this generation isn't about better graphics and better sound, it's about new control schemes. But if that's the case, why would anyone buy a 360 instead of a Wii?

The obvious answer to that is because you want the best of both worlds, but I still feel that making such a move is sending the wrong message.

They are making a tilt 360 controller. Game Informer said something about them contacting the company that did Wiimote motion.

The said something about improving the right analog stick using tilt control.

I think the 360's kind of in desperation mode hardware-wise. They lost HD-DVD, and are now trying to throw in tilt.

Yeah, they are advertising it on LIVE like "NEW LOWER PRICE! 5 FREE MOVIES!"

Not to mention the big hardware failure problems they are having.

Still no Alan Wake stuff, though. I guess we'll have to wait for E3 for that.
Yeah, we may be waiting a while for that Mai. :-\

I have to say though, Microsoft did well, this GDC. They got their killer app for 2008. I would bet that Gears 2 will keep them well ahead of Sony, at least in North America. The rest of the world still looks like it's gonna head towards the PS3 this year (especially Japan).

They would probably try to replace it with a Blu-ray add-on rather than tilt.

:lol

They had a broken one on display at GDC for crying out loud!
Ok...and? That automatically means their hardware is total crap even though it's at 16% failure including old, crappy models? My bad.

Of course, go ahead and think that, but seeing as how I waited to buy mine, it won't overheat or break.
