Blast away and go, go, go!
It just arrived from japan, broken. It is making a griding noise inside occasionally, and the controller 1 port wont work when you press the D pad down....... AAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Luckily, I used my credit card for the purchase, so if the seller doesnt make good, I will get my money back.

ahh.... this is the problem with "cheap" systems. 50% work, 50% don't.

its really a bummer....

grinding noise? can you sell if its from the spinning of the CD or the laser sled moving?

and the D pad down.... do all the other directions work BUT the down direction doesn't?

The system works, and the noise is only sporadic. Usually when you are loading a new CD, the CD spins and sometimes makes a clunk noise.

The down position is the only issue, on both pads out of control port 1. Must be the port.

If the system works, then don't worry too much about it... play the life out of it :D :lol

do the Neo CD pads work right on port 2?

and the clunk noise.... I am just not sure about it.
I thought you said it was grinding?
:)

Grinding... I could see an issue with the spindle or maybe the sled for the laser, but clunk, I am not too sure.

The noise your speaking of...is it something like this...

you put in a cd..you hear it spin, and then...clunk...then after you press start to begin the game loading from the menu, it spins as well, and you hear it reading?

If so thats normal in my opinion, mine makes a somewhat "clunk" noise right after it spins and reads the CD...right before you actually load the game.

Now...a grinding noise...I'm not sure about that...plus I've never had a front loader so I'm not sure what its sounds are like...but older CD systems can tend to be noisy with the loading and reading.

But the controller problem...this is a real problem, i'd try to get my money back if possible...did the seller offer a guarantee?

Your so right man...its much better to pay a little more to buy one from a known reliable source...such as yourself. And I believe you even offer a limited warranty on the systems..? I cannot remember to be sure...but most people do not, they sell them "as is".

Yes, it spins and at the end of the spin when it usually says press start, I hear the clunk. It is a toploader, and I have never heard this before with any of the other systems I have owned.

The control ports are a mystery to me. I am going to try to clean them with Alcohol tonight and see if it is just corrosion or something... who knows.

The seller is Satosea3 on Ebay, and he has already been very responsive. He is contacting the Japanese postal service for an insurance claim, as he says it most likely broke during shipment... although I have my doubts. He has told me that once he files his claim, he will send me out a new system. He is supposed to contact me back tomorrow.

This is normal. The clunk noise is just the disc stopping its spinning very quickly. Mine does it as well. Thats nothing to worry about, as far as I am concerned its normal, also from others I've talked to as well report the same thing. I would say the only real problem you have is the controller port.

I am not sure on the controller ports either as I have not messed with them.

My CD system doesn't have a clunk... I don't think... I will have to check that out again.

So no grinding then Kanji?

yeah... the only problem is that you end up paying a little more for the "guarantee" you know.

I did have 1 (only 1) system go bad on my to a customer.  It baffled us both because this thing was in PERFECT condition.  I tested it... it worked....etc.
When it got there it didn't work.  I had to eat $180 and sent him out a new system.... in just as good of condition.

Guarantees can be a punk sometimes... but you know what... Its only fair, and we feel the customer is entitled to it.  Its only 30 day, but most issues show up WAY before then.

I dont think that this clunk is healthy at all.

Its just the sound of the disc stopping abruptly....its quite normal I'm very certain. Prehaps yours is louder than normal...Its really hard to judge that without actually hearing it. But I can assure you that a "clunk" will be heard when a CD spinning that fast comes to an ubrupt stop and is held in place by that type of rough textured CD holder that the NGCD has holding the disc down.

I think I know of what you speak, which is a very subtle sound. This sounds like a tapping sound inside the unit. dat, dat, dat, dat...... sound.

I have heard the disk stopping noise before, this is not it.

Well, the seller is not moving quickly enough for me, so I have filed a claim with Paypal, and will process a request with my credit card company if I cannot get resolve from Paypal.

The seller is pretty large for Ebay, so his paypal account probably has money in it.

I have a question though, when someone files a claim on Paypal, is the accused's account frozen for the amount of the dispute immediately? Or can they clean it out with the 10 day notice they get? That would be my only concern.

I've never had to file a claim on paypal, or with my cred card company, so I cannot really offer any insight to this problem :(

I can suggest to you NOT to buy any more systems on eBay, as this is a problem I hear about all too often. If you still want a NGCD...buy one from Bluevoodu's store. The 30 day warranty and peace of mind from ordering from him are well worth the extra cash...not too mention that every item I have ever received from him is in the best possible condition imaginable.

well... you file a dispute... they check up on your claim.

IF the seller does not have any money in their account... their account is frozen till things are cleared up.

BUT.... just to give you a little hint of how I do things... my Paypal balance is always $0.00
It is immediately transferred down to avoid frauds. IF my account gets locked in a fraud... so be it... I can operate off Money orders and credit cards sales.
Unfortunately, there is always a risk with Paypal.

I suppose as a last resort, I can file a claim with my CC company. I have already contacted them, and know what I will need to do to file the claim.

not sure what you 'll need... BUT I think Paypal can kill your account and won't reopen it UNLESS you repay them the funds...

I think that is what can happen :-\

I'm glad I have never had these problems...I guess its good I'm picky as hell about who I buy things from to an extent. And one rule of mine is no systems on eBay at all! Games..fine, if the seller has 100% good feedback. But if the game costs as much or more than a system...no way for me.

I really hate to say it, but eBay just sucks unless your very careful about who you buy from. I also read the descriptions very well..alot of people will offer systems "working when left the seller, no guarantees after that" or "buy as is" ect..thats not good enough for me.

I'm sorry for your dilema Kanji, it sucks the guy will not just refund the money to you and let you return the faulty system.

I had one bad eBay experience a year ago where I got some CDR games that were not listed as that, bundled with a system..after that I have been really weary of whom I buy from.

yeah... I got a bunch of CDR's as well.... I thought they might have been protos... but I found out differently :-\

they were cheap boots.... and hence why I wrote the bootleg FAQ.... no one really knew what a Neo CD boot was. Everyone knew of CD-Rs... but not boots.
