My new computer for gaming.

Nova

Boom-shacka-lacka
I don't think I could've been any happier this Christmas. I got a brand new custom built gaming PC.

Lets see here:

Processor is a dual-core 3.00 GHz Pentium 4.

GeForce 6600 LE 256MB video card

512 MB of RAM (not sure what kind)

190 GB of hard drive space.

Although not really for Christamas, I went out and got a 17-inch flat screen monitor.

Not exactly a monster, and with a lack of RAM, can't quite run F.E.A.R past medium/low settings. I even got wireless Internet with it too.

Not bad at all. You have to understand though that F.E.A.R. is a monster and even the best graphics cards can struggle to play it.

Yeah same here Recky
Im really looking forward to that game. Especially since Im not getting a 360.

Yea, I messed around with the settings, so I can't use Volumetric lights or shadows without a severe drop in FPS. I wanted at least lights on medium, but even that's troublesome. My main problem is a lack of RAM, and I just ordered in another 512 MB, so hopefully I'll be able to boost some settings a bit.

I'm planning on getting an absolute 1337 machine from Alienware. They are REALLY expensive, but, they offer great payment plans. $135 a month for a $4500 PC.

There are others that are about the same as Alienware. Falcon Northwest and Voodoo PC are two that stick out in my mind.

Still much cheaper and easier to build one IMO.

I don't have the time or know how to build one. Or patience for that matter.

Say what you want, I believe them.

^That's quite funny, considering there's literally thousands of case designs for you to choose from, so you're guaranteed to find one you like. If you think Alienware computers are ugly, too bad; you're stuck.

^HAHAHAHA!! Yes, because we all know that buying individual components online at the lowest possible prices is somehow more expensive than the at least 2x markup that Alienware has. Yes, it's possible to build the same system yourself for about half the cost of what Alienware charges.

Either way, that whole thing they have set up there is a huge load. They put themselves up on a pedestal while putting down retailers that actually have worthwhile customer service and don't charge people their first-born child for parts.

Alienware makes the best gaming computer right?

Um, yes and no. As others have stated you can build your own for cheaper and with better parts, but alienware is quality so you'll get a good machine. They are also popular because of their ads, which doesnt necessarily make them better but in this case they are worth the money.

I don't think they are that inflated compared to other places. For around $2000, courtesy of Best Buy, my friend got a PC with 512 MB DDR RAM, an X200 graphics card, and a 2.4 GHz processor.

Roughly the same price, quite a bit better spec wise.

Anyways, I'm not saying that building your own PC is more expensive than buying one, but I couldn't build one even if I wanted to invest the time, effort, and research required to do so. Alienware is reliable, albeit slightly expensive, but it is still more convenient for me.
