My playstation 2 may be half broken. HELP!!!

all of my games that I play have problems with the graphics. I have played the same games on a different station and had the graphics be superb. What is wrong? Especially in the background of games. If it happens to be a dark scene then there will be blue blotches all over the background. When I go to the Playstation Browser there will be thick off colored bands that run diagonally behind the memory card and disc pictures. It is my video setup up either. I switched it back and forth from RGB to Y/cr/cb or whatever and am having the same problems. Does anyone know of a website or has experienced the same problems? I need help!!!!
 
And it's not your television, right?

Or the cables? I think you covered that one.
 
yeah... check your TV with another system 1st.

If your TV has more than 1 A/V input on the back (or front) try a different A/V channel to make sure that one isn't shot.

Next would be try the cables to the system... If you have a friend with good cables.. try theirs.
Try wiggling the cables gently at the system (1st) ... see if the picture gets better/worse. If nothing... try wiggling the cables at the TV... see if it gets better or worse... if nothing... see below.

Last.... would be the system.

You better hope that its not you PS2. When mine started playing up and I had to get it sent away to get repaired. Lets just say its a chunk out of you wallet you don't need. Hope the problem gets fixed the cheap and easy way.
 
I have always ran it through my dvd player. I will try hooking it up directly to the televison. I will also try to use someone else's cable to see if that works. Is something ends up being wrong with the system, arn't there ways to fix problems like these?

Yep, by giving Sony a good bit of your money. Trust me, you're not the only one. Been there several times, though never this exact instance.
