you know... I really liked this Sony DVD player.... it is one of the few things I actually like from sony.

well.... the past 4 months, the cursed thing has been skipping (off and on)... well.... tonight while watching Star Wars Ep 3 it kept skipping.  Now dangit... I haven't seen this movie since May... and I wanted to watch it, but I cannot stand to keep fast forwarding because the blasted thing keeps skipping.  It is only a couple years old!!  I mean come on... how bad can they make a product?  Seems like they cannot make good readers, or find 3rd party companies with readers that last.

It has been skipping real bad  the last couple weeks.

and people wonder why I don't like Sony :lol

3-4 Discman quite working... all have had the headphone jack crackle problem (yes, 1 I returned 5 times to get one that didn't cracklewhen bumping the headphone jack.  Eventually (with normal use), the headphone jack will cut to mono, then nothing.  I've had it happen on all 3-4 I bought, and started to happen on the 5 I returned (within 10 days I returned 5).
This DVD problem and some other problems with their items.

/endrant.

as vader would would put it

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Looks like you got yourself a bad DVD player. As for the discman's, did you check if maybe it was your headphones that were the problem? I think that happened to me a couple of times and both times it ended up being headphones that bad wiring.

you bet... I bought a few different type of headphones. ALL the discman I had... had bad input jacks. I don't think it was the actual input jack.... BUT however that input jack is connected to the system to get the sound through (the wiring or whatever) was bad.

@ FF7... that is right :lol That is the EXACT part the DVD player started giving me hell :lol maybe vader got so mad he ended up giving my DVD player a fatality.

I've gone through about 4 Sony discmans to date. I think they're awesome quality and look good so I keep buying them. Especially now they're so cheap due to MP3 players becoming all the rage, so a discman crapping out on me isn't a big deal.

I do have friends that have Sony discmans and have had them for the past 5 years, and they still work fine.

well... I was paying $100-120 per player back then  :-\  I won't buy them now.

My Next dvd player won't be a sony either.

Ya, I payed $150 for one of mine back in the day. It lasted about a year and a half though, and I got a free replacement one, so it worked out alright.

Same here. My current Sony discman has been dropped, kicked, sat on and is still going strong. Ive had it since 2000. Mine cost around $75.

well.. you just suck :lol

come on... why do I have the bad luck with everything? :D
My buddy dropped his and it stopped working :lol

Here is a fluke accident: I dropped mine once (while I was mowing the grass on the riding mower). The stupid discman hits the step (of the mower), the lid opens, the CD falls out, and the disc gets sucked underneath the mower and gets chewed up :lol That all happened in about 3 seconds. I was like WTH?!?!

Yup I agree, you have bad luck. :D

Hahaha, ya. One guy I know even dropped it while he was riding his bike. It popped apart, batteries, cd, everything went rolling and whatnot. Both the cd player and the cd still work, despite the fact that this was about 4 years ago, lol.

I don't buy Sony stuff outside of my Playstations. My Emerson DVD player has fallen off the shelf, beat up by my son, and even one day my wife found him filling it up with crackers. No skips or anything. It even cost me like $50 brand new.
With electronics, I have to cheap out a bit because I have destructive kids.
