Neo Geo CD problems

Hi Guys,

I recently bought a Neo Geo CD with a few games, turned it on last night and it comes up with what looks like a CD player application. If I put a music CD in, nothing happens, I've tried putting one of the games in and nothing happens again. My first thoughts are that the CD drive has failed for some reason, it makes no attempt to spin it up at all. Also, anyone have instructions in English as everything is in Japanese!

If this is a CD drive problem, how easy are they to have repaired?

this is my first post,

i found this site after a google search, because i have a neo geo cd with the very same problem, received it last week, and the ebay seller doesn't even reply...

after pushing the button which "tells" the system that the drive is closed, i see that the laser tries to move into the center, but bumps into the device that usually would make the cd spin, bumps into it then gives up and backs off 2 or 3mm, then after a few seconds retries, and happens the same thing, so it backs off again, it does this indefenitely until i shut down the system.

i already opened the system to check the connections, but it all looks solid, and since i can't find any technical documents about the neo geo cd, i won't touch it because i'd be doing something that i wouldn't know if it'd be right or wrong.

any help around here for us?
