New Counter-Strike game in the works from Valve!!

http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/26/counter-strike-global-offensive-to-have-cross-play-for-ps3-pc/

Valve giving PS3 and PC users perfect harmony again with Cross-Play for CS. Sorry Xbox 360 owners!

(It begins...)

Honestly, I would probably rather not have the crossover.

I will only be able to play it on PS3, and I do not want to have to go up against some dude with a mouse. He's gonna headshot me every time.

Not just that, I think Valve sucks at making console FPS's. Both of the Left 4 Dead games had atrocious controls (the concept of the games was so good the controls didn't much matter). It was obvious that Valve did not do much in terms of fine tuning the controls for console to make them control as well as most other modern console FPS's. I'm hoping they improve their track record. Portal 2 on console was better than Valve's previous console attempts, but it's hard to compare that game to a tactical shooter where split seconds and millimeters are often the difference between relatively equally skilled players.

This Cross-Play is only a feature for PC players. As someone who'll be playing it on the PS3... me no likey.

Hopefully Valve let's PS3 owners use keyboard and mouse. It's been done before.

...Naysayer!

You just don't wanna play against me! ^_^

Haha. Maybe.

Despite all these potential issues I might have with the game, I'm still pumped for it. I wonder if this game will be a precursor to an updated CS game, and if this one is just to test the waters on general reception and online multiplayer or something.

I am so confused by this statement. I do not think it is a precursor to an updated CS game; it IS an updated CS game.

Looks interesting. I just hope they don't sacrifice game-play for 'features'.
Counter Strike is the game that got me gaming

I don't really care how realistic it is as long as it is fun to play. I like the idea that they are adding more weapons and I hope they add interesting things like the decoys they were talking about in that article. I think they need more variety than just new maps.

Agreed. This is a game that is all about pure gameplay. Keep the bells and whistles, just make it work the way it should.

I wonder if people are just going to play the same old maps they are used to playing (Dust, Dust 2, etc.).

I'll probably play it for the same reason I play CSS- On account of the people to play with. If my CSS clan launches a server, I'm sold lol

So, I'm uh... playin' the beta.

You were 3 and 0 and then dropped to 5 and 10?

What happened!? :lol

That looks awesome, BUT I hope they decide to get a little more creative with the map settings (locations). Industrial warehouses are great and all, but hostages could be anywhere! They should push themselves to try and take map design to a new level, or at least add a little variety to it.

Server changed maps and switched teams. -_- At least I was MVP with a backstab that round!

That was a bomb placement "de_" map, not a hostie map.
