New Halo novel revealed, due this fall

Just because there are Spartans in it doesn't mean it's a history book. Sci-fi scribe Tobias S. Buckell has been tapped to write the sixth novel based on and in the Halo universe, Halo: The Cole Protocol, due this fall.

Buckell is no stranger to the genre, his most recent work, Ragamuffin, having received a 2007 Nebula Award nomination for Best Novel. According to Bungie, The Cole Protocol promises plenty of fan service, focusing on the whereabouts of the Spartan Gray Team and "an unexplored conflict of the Human-Covenant War where unlikely alliances are formed and shattered." Formed and shattered.
 
Wow, I haven't even finished Contact Harvest yet! Maybe getting this will kick me in the butt and want to get it read. :)
 
If you like the game at all, I'm sure you'll love the books. They really flesh out the storyline. Fall of Reach by Eric Nylund is my favorite, by far, but the rest are good as well. Even The Flood, which basically is just the novelization of Halo, has some stuff that you might not catch in the game.

My number thing in Halo 3 - O87 - is based on Spartan 087, Kelly, from the Halo books, in fact. ^_^
 
Kelly is my second favorite Spartan, only second to Linda the best sniper. Fall of Reach is amazing. I really wish they would make a game with that story and change up the gameplay so that it feels more like an actual squad. The Flood was kinda boring if you played the game but, it moreso focuses on the ODST which are my favorites from the Halo series. Ever since First Strike I've always wanted to know what happened to Gray Team, the only thing that sucks is that Eric Nylud isn't writing this one. He is my favorite author from the Halo books.

No, Kelly never died as far as I recall.
I think she ended up in that bubble thing in Ghosts of Onyx, but I don't remember for sure.

Don't read spoiler if you haven't finished Ghost of Onyx
Onyx was completely destroyed and all that is left what was left of the entrance to the portal in which the Spartans and Dr. Hasley are in. The Planet may be the other entrance to the shield.
