Assassin's Creed was to me an open ended Parkour experience with swords, daggers and the like.

Hinesmdc said:That's because you already said you have never played the PoP series.

Hinesmdc said:So you're judging a book by it's cover?
Strubes said:I'm judging a game, by the gameplay videos I've seen.
Hinesmdc said:Without...actually playing it...
I see...

Playing a game and seeing the same game being played are two very different things.Strubes said:I'm judging a game, by the gameplay videos I've seen.

Well look at it this way. If you're simply wathcing the game being played can you feel how good the controls are? Can you tell how you're doing, and exactly what you're doing? Can you really enjoy the game's atmosphere?Strubes said:Hmm, sure wasn't for me with SSBM and Assassin's Creed.

Mass Effect is a perfect example of this. The game was incredibly boring to watch. So many things about the game simply had to be experienced to be understood.
It's the same thing with many other games. You can't simply assume things about them unless you really play them.
Fr0dus Maximus said:Ok let's take a game like Street Fighter 3rd Strike if you watch a match or maybe a gameplay video, do you seriously think you know what the game feels like to control or at least know how it does control?
Then frankly, you judged it before you had any right to. Games are meant to be played, not watched. It's like watching a play, then watching its movie adaptation. They're far different things.Strubes said:I guess you and I are different..I watched a friend of mine play Mass Effect and didn't feel the need to try it because I already knew what it was like and how it controlled.
