Italian website Mondobox.com has posted an image (above) of a promotional insert in the Gears of War 2: Game of the Year edition case, and it's notable for one reason: in addition to showing the current 802.11a/b/g Xbox 360 wireless adapter, it also shows the new 802.11n adapter that was recently tested by the FCC (via Joystiq).
What can be deduced from this? Well, for one, it probably means the new adapter (which uses the speedier -- and now standard -- 802.11n WiFi protocol) must be fairly close to release. But it also suggests the new adapter will exist alongside the old adapter on store shelves rather than replace it, which hopefully means the insane $100 price tag of the old adapter will finally be lowered (which hopefully wouldn't mean this new adapter would be priced equally as insanely when it hits retail). We'll just have to wait and see when Microsoft releases official details on the new adapter, which we'll pass along as soon as they do.
