Blu-Ray sounds more appealing, even if it is Sony's idea.

That amount of storage medium would make it easier for developers to make huge games.

I'd like to see all formats on Blu-ray.... Even Nintendo.

problem is... LOADING TIMES.

Another problem is.... Game developers don't make games that large.... heck.... PC games are stretched to hit 13 gig (1 -4 gig is the norm now).

Console games.... pffft.... that don't even max out the discs now.

Yes, but in this gen I've heard a lot of developers complain about the Gamecube's discs not having enough storage capacity. Def Jam Vendetta: Fight for New York got screwed over on the GC. EA took something like 80 songs off the soundtrack for the GC version while the XBOX & PS2 versions didn't get anything taken out at all.

I guess really I don't care what medium they all go with as long as they all go with the same one. Which would mean Nintendo and Microsoft going with Blu-Ray as well, since Sony's already committed to it.

I'm afraid that if videogames go the way of Blu-ray, the movie industry will follow. Why is that bad? Because I've invested a couple hundred dollars on a DVD player, and my DVD library assuming it would be the best medium for awhile. If HD-DVD's are the next big thing, then I can still use my DVD player (I think, I'm not sure about specifics) and feel like I got my money's worth out of it. If in 2 years everything's on Blu-ray discs and I'm stuck with all my movies on DVD, that's gonna really suck.

Yeah, formats are jumping a little fast. Heck, 10 years ago everyone was using VHS (that I know)

the only thing about Blu-ray I am scared about:  reliability (since its a new technology) and WHAT are the LOAD TIMES going to be like.

Searching through hundreds of megs... and even tens of gigs..... thats going to take awhile.....

heck.. there are games in these new systems that rival the load times of the PSX and the Neo Geo CD... that is somewhat sad. You would figure it would progress enough to where loads could be minimized.
