And this is just the calm before the storm.

8. Nintendo DS 410
9. GameBoy Advance 14
10. Xbox 12

Within weeks DS will have 3. THREE 3 million unit sellers in the top ten. This week? They have EVERY GAME in the top 10.

EVERY SINGLE ONE.

Hardware wise? Hmm... let's see.. all other hardware sales combined barely reach 1/3 of DSLite hardware sales this week.

Next week you ask? Isolated incident? No. DS Lite new colors come out next week in Japan. Surge. FF III restocks. Surge.

This amazing? Not even. This is the calm before the storm.

What happens later this year?

A) Wii will dominate Japan.

B) Pokemon comes for DS. That's instantaneous 1-2 million copies sold, likely hitting 3 million not too long after.

Nintendo owns this entire year in Japan, now more than ever and this winter will be the last legs.

Iwata was the best thing to happen to Nintendo in years. And now that Reggie is president of NoA, Nintendo is coming back for good this time.

Get ready for it.

Pay attention friends, we're in for a ride and a change of history.

dang... 503k FF3s were sold?

nice.  Granted it was launch time... but that's crazy.

Question... where did you get your #s?

@ your comment on "last legs" .... :lol I hope it is not Nintendo's "last legs" :lol

That was their ENTIRE shipment (perahps sans a few thousand?). Square estimated to sell about 350k units. They sold out.

Same place I always get them. Media Create. For years now. Same place everyone else reports from as well. Very reliable people.

That was a misuse of language. What I meant was this winter will be the grand finale. The nail in the coffin.

Nintendo is dominating an entire country with a handheld. It's ... puzzling.

This, combined with Nintendo's DS lead worldwide (selling better than PSP in every region). . . kind of bodes well don't you think? Nintendo has begun advertising Wii in local game stores. It's not prominent - it's very subtle right now. They're beginning to hype it up in their quarterly catalogues they drop off.

Wii is coming. Things are changing. I'm a lot more excited about games than I have been for years. :-)

Until then, I'll continue to enjoy the games coming out right now. Xenosaga III, Disgaea 2, and Alter Code F (just hit 75 hours). ACF is almost done though. God I can't wait to play Xenosaga... sigh. I picked it up, but I need to complete ACF or I'll put it down never to be touched again. :-)

Guess I might as well. It's old, but it surely fits once again.

Yes, the week of August 19th to 26th is like Christmas week for the videogame industry. Whoever comes out on top of this week is bound to do well the rest of the year... ::)

Mm hmm.

Is this to imply you do not believe Nintendo is going to absolutely dominate this Christmas? If you don't believe, you're in for a rude awakening. This has been the trend for the last year.

The Pokebomb hasn't even been dropped yet. Christmas is over before it began.

Actually, the last time someone dominated the entire week of August 19th to 26th in videogame sales they conquered the world. And parts of Mars too.

I have to agree. We're getting a little ahead of ourselves here since Nintendo isn't facing all of it's competition yet. It could be a different story when when the PS3 and more 360 games are released.

Im glad they're doing great, but I don't see them "dominating" come Christmas time.

This is cool. But you know, I hope that Sony gets off their butts and does something with the PSP. Because when there is competition, there's deals and everyone turns out better product.

You know, it's topics like this that makes me wish Neph was still here. :lol

One week of good sales in August is not a good indicator of who will do what in the coming Christmas season. Any relation between sales from the week of Dec. 18th to Dec. 25th and the week of Aug. 19th to 26th is purely coincidental... unless of course you believe in voodoo witchcraft. Ya know, moon cycles, low tides, and all that. It is even harder to make a connection between the two when the videogame company in question is releasing an entirely new system during the time interval inbetween.

I'm not saying Nintendo won't do well come Christmas, I am more or less advising you wait and see what actually happens instead of throwing out random assertions of who will do what. Taking my advice will keep me from telling you "I told you so" if you turn out to be wrong, as well it will keep me from telling you "lucky guess" if you turn out to be right.

You are a funny man indeed. Little research you do, yes? Pay attention to sales charts and trends. This is merely the highest pinnacle reached in a long, LONG time. This is revitalizing the industry in Japan day by day. No one thought this possible and yet, here it is.

I'm not entirely positive why you choose to argue with someone who pays attention to weekly sales of hardware, software, and monitors trends on a continual basis when you clearly do none of those things. Why bother making baseless assumptions like that? It's beyond me.

Since you seem to have more faith in your "estimate", would you like to initiate a friendly wager..?

You clearly do not realize what sorts of milestones and unimaginable success the DS is having in Japan right now.

Oh dear...I wonder how he'd spin this into how Sony is ruling Japan and that Nintendo is gonna be out of business in six months ::)

And I'm sure you were wanking while typing this too, you've got such a hard-on for Nintendo.

Oh man, I can't even begin to reiterate the absolute joy I recieved from typing that news. I gained even more pleasure when I saw you had viewed my thread. It came to an absolute climax when I was graced with your eminence. I am particularly enthralled by this shocking turn of events.

I had written a post that thoroughly discredited your character, but thanks to a faulty internet connection and some sober second thought I decided not to post it.

I will however say that you seem to be misinterpreting what I'm saying. I'm not at all refuting the fact that Nintendo could dominate the Christmas season, I was only pointing out how statistics from one obscure week in August is a faulty basis to make that arguement.

In short, it was a joke. Get over it.

I see that Neph couldn't resist the urge to throw in his two cents worth. Oh well. All I gotta say is long live the big N!! :lol

Take the time to review the statistics for the past year. It'll do well in your attempt to undermine my credibility.
