Nintendo dropped the ball with the DS

Mario Kart....November

I'd say these are four of the biggest DS games and they are all pushed back to the end of the year.  >:( That really bites.

The good news is that Super Mario Bros. is still scheduled for April, and there's a lot of games that haven't been given a set release date (Another, Kirby's Paintbrush, Super Princess Peach, Jam with the Band, etc.). And this month we get WarioWare Touched (2/14/05) and next month we get Yoshi's Touch and Go (3/14/05).

But still, why did they make such a cool system and then not have any games to really show it off?

I understand that they wanted to get it to people before the PSP came out. But honestly, most people that own DSs, including myself, would have rather that NIntendo waited until they had the games to back it up.

Well, the DS libary still doesn't seem too bad. I checked it out the other day, and there's a couple of strong titles in there. No Luigi's Mansions. I was quite impressed.

To be fair, there's not really many "must-have" games announced for ANY system this year, besides Legend of Zelda for GC. I thought about getting a PSP to help during the time when there's nothing coming out for the DS....but there's nothing on the PSP I want coming out during that time either. So it would be a waste of money. I figure I'll just use that lull to finish games I already own.

This is what I hate about the next generation coming up so soon though. The XBOX especially isn't getting anything worthwhile (IMO) this year because everyone is already starting to develop games for the XBOX 2 instead.

I remember the N64 had a good half a year of almost no games at all when the GC was coming out. The withdrawal period was absolutely brutal. Microsoft should really take note of that and make sure it doesn't happen to them, and support their first system even after the "Xbox 2" comes out, or have an extremely impressive launch lineup of titles, which is doubtful.

gee... you all forget about Castlevania?

There is good stuff coming out.  Meh..

Zoo keeper is addictive.  Thats all I play anymore  :'(  I can't stop playing it. ::D

Sony dropped the ball with the PSP in Japan by not doing anything about the 5000 defective systems.
At least Nintendo fixed their screen problems when the need arose.

and there are really no must have games for the PSP at launch. Crap, I played 4 of them... :-\

No. I am looking forward to Castlevania. But for one thing, it's not coming out until September, and secondly, I meant Nintendo as a first party developer dropped the ball. I should have been more clear on that.

Because honestly, they make this killer system (the DS) and they haven't given us a game yet that's a killer app. On their own system. I think WarioWare Touched might come close though. I can't wait for that to come out next week.

I'm mostly just upset that they pushed back Animal Crossing so much. That's my #1 reason for getting the DS. It kind of sucks to have to wait until October for it. But I'm hoping they'll announce some release dates for other games I am looking forward to. And since Animal Crossing DS is coming out after E3, I'm sure they'll have a playable demo or something at E3, and then the hype for it will be that much more. :) Plus, that gives them time to really take advantage of the DS hardware for the game.

Yep, it was a very bad business decision on the part of Nintendo. They should have had all their winners ready to go and out the week before the PSP comes out. Not to mention I hate waiting for all those games, which are gonna be the best games for the system. What they've got now is really weak...especially since the PSP's gonna come out with a billion games the first 2 months. Of course, the DS games are more creative on average, but most are not good enough to justify the system at this time. I just hope the wait's worth it.

They finally announced a release date for Pac Pix. That's another game that I got the DS for. Pac Pix is coming out in April. I already reserved it. I can't wait for the final version...it should be really fun.

I <3 Namco.

I wish Nintendo wasn't so secretive. I'm sure they have a crapload of games ready for this year that they just haven't announced yet, or that they've announced the game, but not the release.
