Nintendo puts region lock on Wii's Virtual Console

I can understand that they put region locks on the normal games, but i cant understand why they do it on the games you can download through VC. The games are being emulated so the emulator shouldnt have much of a problem running a NTSC game on a PAL TV or vice versa.

Region lockout sucks. Of corse some guy is going to bust that in no time.

Yeah, but just because it can be broken doesn't mean average Joe gamer will ever be able to break it.

I mean... the GBA and DS are region free... why lock this console when their others are free?

I'm bumping this old topic... BTW... I CANNOT BELIEVE IT WAS FROM 2006. Anyone else having a hard time believing the Wii, Xbox 360, and Ps3 are already this old?!

Anyway, I've seen a couple Japanese games on the Wii Virtual Console... so some Famicom games could/should (might be) there. I do not see why PAL games couldn't work on the US console though.
