No more $500 PS3.

The Elite was released on April 29th! It is online for sale at Circuit City also. I am not sure where you got May 4th from! And it does not have a Wireless Network Adapter built-in, which sucks. And it is not experts from Sony who predicted it, it is unbiased experts. And I have both Blu-Ray and HD-DVD and I hope both make it.

Sorry, typing before thinking. May 4th was Canada and I thought you meant wireless controllers.

...

So, how 'bout this weather? Think it'll rain? :-\

I wish it had a Wireless Adapter for the network built-in like the PS3 does, but....... Anyway, we need rain in Florida. We are in a major drought and the Water Facility only has 18 days worth of water left.

I'm not a fanboy for or against Sony and I hope that all 3 consoles do well, but I'm afraid they blew it with their overpriced power play. Only time will tell.

Sounds about right. I, at this point, would not buy ANY of the three (360, PS3 or Wii) even had I the money to spare right now.

I'd much rather get cheap games for the PS2, still play my PSone games on it, occasionally play my against my parents on their Gamecube, possibly get them a GameBoy Player, still play my GBA\SP and SNES and possibly get an original XBOX...

you know, your right. i bought an xbox 360 and a wii, and i find that they just sit there, or i use them for backward compatability or watching dvds only.

The ironic thing is the reason why I'm harder on PS3 than X-box 360 is after having both PS1 and PS2 it has become by prefered console line and now have priced there product out of the range I'm willing to spend.

my ways have changed! ever since i bought Oblivion for the 360, i cant stop playing!

11 hours in, and barely scratched the surface

I'm telling you all, Apple is deviating a nefarious scheme of their own to release a console solely made by them. It will pwn all systems. Just like iPod pwns all other mp3 players.

I came into this expecting to see they removed Blu-Ray(fancy way to say 'got some common sense'), but then they pulled it. Yay. Half of the PS3 is gone. Now we must pull the $600 ones.

If they pull Blu-Ray and the games are made on Blu-Ray Format, how do you still play the games? That does not make sense!

Uh yeah, it makes perfect sense. This could just be me but my solution would be to never have a PS3? Blu-Ray is so stupid because the games were just fine on the old format. My wallet bites my a** everytime I see a PS3 reminding me never to shell out over half a grand for a friggin game console, when that money could be spent on better, more useful things.

And then you do not get a PS3. That was plain and simple and did not need to be post upon post of your Sony bashing. Like I have said all along, I have all 3 "Big" Consoles, but I do not bash them. They all have their good and bad.

Here's a list o' console prices that I stumbled upon. Note inflation is not taken into account.

1976. Channel F, $170.
1977. Atari 2600, $200.
1978. Magnavox Odyssdey, $200.
1979. Intelivision, $300.
1982. Atari 5200, $330.
1982. Colecovision, $175.
1982. Vectrex, $200.
1986. Atari 7800, $140.
1986. Sega Master System, $200.
1986. NES, $200.
1989. Sega Genesis, $190.
1989. TurboGraphix 16, $200.
1990. Neo Geo, $650.
1991. CD-i, $400.
1991. SNES, $200.
1993. 3DO, $700.
1993. Atari Jaguar, $250.
1995. Sony Playstation, $300.
1995. Sega Saturn, $400.
1996. N64, $200.
1999. Dreamcast, $200.
2000. PS2, $300.
2001. Game Cube, $200.
2001. Xbox, $300.
2005. Xbox 360, $300/400.
2006. PS3, $500/600.

Now, my assumption is that these are U.S market MSRP. And I bring these up to show that the PS3 is by no means the most expensive console (I'd say 3DO, at $700 in 1993 takes the cake).

Bottom line is if you're going to complain, at least do your homework. :D

You have to consider the amount of technology at the time, and how much the money was worth then.

Account taken, and the place I got this from didn't factor in inflation. So if it was 1979, it was in 1979 dollars, etc. Even still, the PS3 is by no means the most expensive console to hit market. Even if the dollar value stayed constant in the past 30 years.

duh inflation would make all those price points RISE... which would just help him support the fact that it isnt the most expensive by far...

Right. But either way you look at it, my case is there. If there were no inflation, then the PS3 wouldn't be the most expensive. And adding inflation, the PS3 is still not the most expensive.

That still doesn't designate buying it, though.

True. But it can silence the uneducated critics who say the PS3 is an utter failure simply because of price.
