Really, somehow I think Nintendo and Metroid don't have a monopoly on beam weapons. Starship Troopers (1959) had beam weapons in it. They must have ripped off Metroid too.

That wasn't the point of the statement. The point of the statement was a blatant ripoff. Whether or not this is actually true, I don't know and I couldn't say. But clearly it's different than him saying "it has beam weapons omg rip".

He was moreso pinning the location and consideration of the weapon and not the fact that it utilizes beam technology... that is almost irrelevant.

EDIT: not to mention bullet weapons, gernade weapons, sword weapons..........

I think Kirbyz point was more that Halo 3 has a map called High Ground that looks almost exactly like a map called High Ground from Metroid Prime Hunters. Beam weapons of course are pretty common, but to have a multiplayer map that not only has the same name as one from MP:H, but also looks like it, cannot just be a coincidence.

I seriously doubt that's the real cover. It's more likely just for display until they design the real one. It just looks too generic and undynamic.

Well, with a common name like High ground... assigned to a hills and mountains type level. :D

I'm not defending Bungie, because I don't know if they really lifted the idea from Metroid, but they did not nececerally copy that game. There are millions of games, and it is really easy to find one game that looks like another.

He used the word ripoff in his statement. Thus, unless I cannot read correctly, he was implying it is a ripoff.
