And I assume on all of the above points you mean "for a console"? I've been doing the shit for years on my PCs. But I suppose it's akin to PSO's success in the wave after Diablo...

Yes, he means for a console. And those are the reasons why it gained the fanbase it did so quickly.

OMG!! That trailer is so freaking awesome!! XD! I love that grenade that acts like a shield! ::D

At first when I played Halo, I didn't really get the hype either. But after I read the book trilogy and then went back to it, I had a lot more enjoyment, since there was a cool story behind it. Also, the vehicular stuff is really cool. I love the way the Warthog feels when you drive it. :)

And like someone mentioned above, the fact that you could LAN with other people was also really cool. I don't play PC games at all so I'd never done anything like that. It was a really fun experience the first time we did a 16 player match with 4 XBOXs.

Shrug. This trailer lacked enough Marty for me.

And as concerning the storyline - if it's so good to begin with, it should have such information in the actual game. I got nothing really out of it aside from an overly agitating library area with a lot of "flood". I shouldn't have a list of required reading to comprehend the story in an enjoyable fashion.

I guess you're one in a million Sartori. Nothing against you, but I guess I feel for Goldeneye, as you do for Halo.

The only difference being that Golden Eye was notable even with regards to the PC culture.

That's irrelevant to the point! I thought you were comparing Golden Eye's debut to Halo's.

In Golden Eye's case (this is very important) circa 1996, the things Golden Eye did weren't particularly tapped on the PC, and if they were, they were most definitely not mainstream by that time. The gameplay elements were far above and beyond anything at the time.

Whereas in Halo's case, people had been LANNING for years at that time (LATE 01), among the many other "revolutionary" items in Halo.

That's directly on the point. But, if you wanna go debut, the only thing Golden Eye did for the console was deliver a good multiplayer experience. So did Halo.

That's debatable though. Maybe not to you, but it is.

I always hated goldeneye. That's just me though. I guess other than smash brothers I did not like many N64 games either.

How the hell does anybody NOT like Goldeneye!? Look how many games have tried to emulate Goldeneye and look how many failed miserably. That game is a gem and that's all I have to say about that. Halo's a good game too, but don't fool yourself, it's nowhere near the caliber of game Goldeneye is, not even close.

:lol omg...that was the funniest thing I've ever heard. Goldeneye may be a good game....but if you're compairing it to Halo nowadays...it doesn't even come close. :lol

LoL...why? because it doesn't have teh uber pwnage grafix that Halo has? I mean really, the only thing Halo has over Goldeneye is graphics, that's it. Halo is a good game, I've beat it numerous times, but it simply doesn't have the depth, or overall polish of Goldeneye. But this is just my opinion, I know your's is different and that's ok. I'm also sure we could sit and argue all day about it, but there's no point in that, as I won't change my mind and I'm sure the same applies to you :)

For some horrible reason, I feel I should throw in my pathetic opinion even though nobody really cares... I didn't really care for goldeneye that much.
