well, before goldeneye, I played doom and quake. so maybe that's why it was nothing special to me.

I know this is all opinion, but Goldeneye is not beat only because of Halo's graphics.

The campaign was highly memorable and fun to play through. 16 people, 4 times what Goldeneye has. Vehicles in multiplayer, which in my opinion are the most fun to drive out of any game I have ever played. And the maps were loads of fun, and well balanced. With the exception of the needler, every weapon is useful and has its own niche in Halo, instead of dozens of weapons in Goldeneye that all filled similar roles or were useless altogether.

on topic, the trailer was incredible.

This is a terrible comparison. Golden Eye took single player to an entire new height that neither Doom OR Quake could even touch. I've played both of these titles. Quake II's a great multiplayer experience for years, even now (imo), but.. it's not Golden Eye, that's for sure.

Finally. Someone with some sense around here who has played both thoroughly and understands that Halo just doesn't hold up, despite being 6 years later in advent.

It's debatable? My ass. Give me some comparable single player experiences in the FPS genre ANYWHERE at the advent of Golden Eye.

Hey, I agree about the vehicles, it's one of my favorite aspects of Halo. For me, Halo was really awesome for about a year {multiplayer and solo} but after a while I grew tired of it. Goldeneye, on the other hand, has given me enjoyable experiences for what, 8 years or so? I still play the game just about every weekend, it's that good to me :)

You're a good man. I share the same sentiments. Though, the original Halo had me interested for under a month I'd rather say.

Halo was THE game for me and my friends up until Halo 2 came out. and I still enjoy it, maybe say, once a month.

I'll stick with Smash Bros as this generation's champ for multiplayer.

Halo 2 would be a better candidate.

But while, Super Smash Brothers is fun, it just doesn't have the same party fun factor of Halo 2 (or 1).

That's what we call an opinion. ;-) I'm glad to make multiple several hundred mile drives ever year to play Smash Bros with pros and adepts alike.

Granted, it's an amazing trailer. But then again, games like Shinobi on PS2 had pretty cool trailers and that game sucked. Still, I don't see that happening with this one. I'm not a fan of the Halo series but I used to love playing multiplayer with my friend on Halo 2 on his original Xbox. Side note: His Xbox's fat @$$ almost crushed my PS2 when he used to put it ontop my poor baby. I'll probably get this new instalment just for the multiplayer, I have a lot of friends that are keen to play it and I'm the only one with a 360. :lol *Evil laugh* Fools!
