Lucas, from Mother 3, not Earthbound. Earthbound was Mother 2, and Mother 3 is a Japan only GBA game. He's pretty much replaced Ness in Brawl.

You could if they decided to go save them as a video, which many people often didn't. With the one in Smash, you go into spectator mode, and you're given a live feed of an online match going on. It's pretty different.

Also, if you remember right, you could simply watch matches in Melee too, which came, what...6 years before Halo 3?

You can't bet on matches in Halo 3 games, much less watch them in spectator mode. In Halo 3 the closest thing to spectator mode is the 5 seconds in between dying and respawning when you can watch the game from another player's perspective.

As Cherry said, you could rewatch a whole match, but only if someone saved the match as a film and sent you the film, and that would be after it had already happened.

@Mai - they are trying to copy halo 3 with video editing/replaying and stage building abilities

Well Nintendo isn't stealing them...just borrowing them.

But there is a down side to this. You can't see who's playing. You kind of just get thrown into a random match. That's ok though. It'll still be really cool to see how random people play.

Yeah, they are getting some cool stuff.
Forge is so overrated. It doesn't even count as a stage builder... don't get me wrong, I love Halo.

But really, this game is getting so tight. I'm so excited for it. I think I'm in love... :-*

There's a few things they're borrowing from Halo three, but it's really no big deal.

SSBB is shaping up to be really cool.

@hines: Right, because he said online in his post.

@Mai: So what? Every game from now on that includes being able to take/edit videos and have a level editor/builder is now going to be a copy of Halo 3? If that's the case then Halo 3 ultimately copied Timesplitters 2/3 with level editing and I'm sure they're not the first case to use video editing in a game.
