DUDE.. DID YOU EVEN BOUGHT THE GAME >_>???????? how could you say that??? heck kirby in melee sucks (unless you give him more practice) but here in brawl he got so powerful.
link and ganondorf feel stiff yet stronger. marth got new attacks, stronger and more speed, sheik lost lag between attacks and zelda's din fire is easier to manage. the ice climbers got nerfed as well, falco has different smash attacks and fox got nerfed..... GOSH you really sound like you haven't even played with anyone.

They nerfed several characters, from Melee to Brawl, and strengthened others.
Actually, every returning character was nerfed or buffed. Kirby got a massive buff, as did Game and Watch, Sheik got some aerial nerfs(and possibly more lag, I think I've seen it), Peach was horribly nerfed, Fox was accidentally nerfed with the removal of shinesparking. The list goes on.

except for yoshi and probably ness.

@Kirby...Halo 2 did infinitely more than Halo 1 did

Exactly my point, and you just proved it. Halo 2 definitely did more than Halo 1; in fact, the only real thing they have in common is the fact that you have to shoot people in both games. It's the same thing here. Brawl builds so much more onto the Super Smash Bros system; to deny that is, well, in my opinion, foolish. The only thing they have in common really is the fact you have to build up damage and throw people off the stage in some way. That's it, really. Honestly, what were you expecting from another Smash Bros game? I'd like to hear your thoughts on what the perfect Brawl game would've been, because from right now it looks like you were wanting a totally different game, completely seperate from Super Smash Bros' fighting system.

The majority of characters weren't modified whatsoever from Melee to Brawl.

Every single character in this game has been changed in a significant way, save for maybe Mr. Game and Watch. But he got a major buff in Brawl, so he did change. This statement is flawed, and really makes it look like you didn't play the game much despite saying otherwise. I'm not saying I don't believe you when you say you played enough, I'm just telling you what it comes across as when you make statements like this. If you still believe this is true, I'd be glad to type up a complete list of changes for each character.

It has the least amount of sequel innovation I have ever seen in a series....even Tony Hawk.
ROFL! Are you serious?! Absolutely hilarious. It really feels like you're joking here. I sigged this over at GameFAQs. XD If you're serious in saying this... :lol

Sure there are new characters and levels and whatnot, but they play the same as before.
Tell me how that's a bad thing? I love how they kept to the formula; I probably wouldn't have bought it if they didn't. You're essentially saying you think it sucks because it's a sequel, and I can't help but :lol at that.

Let's not forget the broken online play, shall we?
Let's not forget that that's not Game Arts' fault, but rather Nintendo WFC's fault. Two different things here.

Yes, it's all your opinion, and I will respect that, and I don't mean to be rude with this post at all... but seriously... rofl. I really don't need to say more; there's no point in arguing this with you if you're so stubborn about hating it. I for one have never played a game better than this one. I'm dead serious when I say that.

Unless you are wanting an aformentioned list of character changes, this'll be my last post concerning Hines' opinion on Brawl. It's an argument that will go absolutely nowhere. He can do what he wants with the game; I'm satisfied in knowing my $50 was well spent on this title, and really, that's all that matters.

That's definitely the most flawed and idiotic statement I've ever heard from you.

Melee Link: Slow, discolored, less powerful, non-windy boomerang, no shadow option, up-B was way overpowered, up-B couldn't be charged, bombs less powerful, and much more.

Brawl Link: Fast, detailed, moderately powerful, windy boomerang, shadow option, up-B not overpowered, up-B can be charged, bombs are more powerful, final smash, enhanced arial combat, enhanced mid-air dodges, wiimote option, wiimote/nunchuk option, classic controller option, multiple taunts, and much more.

Yep. They're the same in every aspect. Please, just go be wrong about something else.

Well, I just read this and I'm neutral. Hines brought up some good points while Cherry, Jack, Zidart, and Kirby did as well.

That it's still very similar to Melee, at its core.

well that's true.. if it weren't it wouldn't be a sequel... however i play melee now and it feels so weird >_>

thanks to the list of trophys on the dojo page now i can keep track of the things i'm missing and have an idea of wich ones are subspace exclusive and wich are not

i got SSBB last night, unfortunately, there were no internet connectors at Wal-Mart so I wont be brawling anyone today.

I finally unlocked Jigglypuff. ^_^ Now I have all of the characters.
I like All Star mode. :)

congratulations mai *-* same for you RJ.

three and then i can consentrate in the best thing of brawl...multiplayer/on-line

Poor Ness and Lucas (mostly Ness). Turns out some bad programming is going to put these guys on the bottom fro choices in major tournaments:

http://smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=166765

As the thread shows, Ness and Lucas's "exit grab recoil" animations are so long that most characters (save for Yoshi and a few others) can grab them again right after they escape from the grab, allowing their opponent to keep racking up damage until their opponent decides to throw out a smash.

interesting i didn't know about that......i guess i'll be careful (because lucas is one of my mains)

Actually, a new update on that mess:

http://smashboards.com/showthread.php?p=4426969#post4426969

Turns out only Marth, Squirtle, and Charizard can do it to Ness, and only Marth can do it to Lucas.

I just tested this, and all it takes to get out of the ones that don't work is either DIing backwards, standard A combos, a simple spot dodge, or a combination of them.

Taken right from the link. it still sucks that it can happen (and Marth's quite the popular character), but at least it's now 1 or 3 / 39 instead of the original 32/39 characters.
