Pitfall for the Wii confirmed

http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/12/pitfall-wii-vived-for-the-big-adventure/

Activision asks: "What could be more fun than using the Wii Remote to swing on a vine over blood thirsty crocodiles as retro-cool Pitfall Harry?!" We wonder: Uh, and how does one swing from a Wiimote exactly? Ready or not, a "new generation of gamers" will plummet to certain doom this fall, when Activision releases Pitfall ... The Big Adventure (oh, well, now you've sold us!).

Developed by Edge of Reality, The Big Adventure features "innovative, accessible game mechanics developed specifically to take advantage of the Wii motion sensing controls," as players waggle over pits, shake up evil "shamen" (shamans?), and twist through puzzles. "It's a completely new experience for the gamer," says Binu Philip. Who? (Edge of Reality's president. Duh.)

Holy cow. The users on Joystiq are NOT happy about this. I think it might be pretty cool. Nothing amazing, but pretty cool at least.

Pitfall is coming to the Wii, this is quite interesting as I have never been able to try it out before on its previous incarnations on other systems. This si going to be quite perplexing.

:lol I like the COD5 comment... I am very worried that game is going to be ruined as well. Call of Duty 4 was such a perfect game... it's a wonder that COD5 wouldn't try to follow suit. They are big shoes to fill and hopefully they don't fail big.

With that said... Pitfall... that's cool. Since they are doing this game, I hope they do it well and make the game good unlike many other developers that are pushing out crap.

There should be a developer blacklist... if they push out crap... they get blacklisted from every system :)

†B†V† :hat

Lotta retro games coming back. Bionic Commando, Pitfall. It's nice.

Ugh, this one has epic fail written all over it. I'm sure it will just be a poorly made game, designed to cash in on a well known franchise. Why must developers do this? :(

I would say that the bigger issue is that they won't let Infinity Ward designing the game, and are forcing it off on Treyarch. Call of Duty games were fantastic, as long as they were made by Infinity Ward, regardless of time period. It was when Treyarch tried to make Call of Duty 3 that the series really faltered.

bad overusing of the phrase "Bad ___ is bad" is bad.
Well, if that's the best you can muster...

So, I downloaded a ROM of the original to play it, and I'm having a lot of fun. Though searching for it lead me to something. There was a 'sequel' for it already released back in 2004(most recently, that is) for the last gen systems, and the original two games were playable. So, it's not really 'introducing it to a new generation' as it is 'getting the generation to notice it'.

Any other time, someone would post something like that, everyone would laugh, it would be over.
Not really, it would be considered trolling if anyone posted that.

I didn't say something about that post because you posted it. It was totally and completely irrelevant to the topic and did nothing but stir the pot. It was the post itself, not the fact that you posted it that made me say something. >_>

Now, are we finished hijacking this topic yet?
