PORTAL 2 Thread (Update: PSN <3's Steam)

Portal 2 Co-Op Impressions

A pair of cute robots star in Valve's team-focused twist on the Portal formula.

The single-player campaign's only twice as long? Jesus, that's crap. I realise that it's difficult to weave a cogent plot without repeating puzzle-types across a greater length of time, but I figured on it being three times as long at least.

I finished the first game on first play-through in about four hours. So, I'm gonna be able to finish this new game in eight or nine hours, am I? It'll last me two days, then.

If this is a £50/$60 release, that's not good enough. I'm gonna need another reason to buy it. By which I mean another reason *IN ADDITION TO* the co-op, mode. I won't always have a second person to play with, which means it doesn't count as core content in my book.

$5 off and a voucher for "Custom Bots"??

Re: PORTAL 2 Confirmed. Update: Feb 9th, 2011

Hmm... I'm curious. I might get it from GameStop, despite how much i despise them. However, the chances of me getting $45 that I havent devoted to something else by the time it comes out is slim.

LOL, that's all GS is offering? No thank you, I'm sticking to Steam who'll more than likely have it available for free eventually.

Re: PORTAL 2 Confirmed. Update: Feb 9th, 2011

I cannot wait for this game. I'll probably pre-order it sometime in January at GameStop. It'll probably be like 12GBs on Steam and that would take a while. :P

Re: PORTAL 2 Confirmed. Update: April 21st, 2011

Delayed until APRIL 21st. Yet, we finally have a date!

CO-OP ...... *gamer seizure*

And yes x2 makes a good point. Not sure how that would go down, but if you talk to BV, you could post your reviews in the Development section here, and they can be put on on the non-forum section of the EGA site (where he sells his stuff and puts such reviews and help-guides, etc). Just a thought tough, as it's odd to do so when you already have a site you do this on lol

WOW! Buy the PS3 edition and get the PC STEAM edition...for FREE!! O.O Not JUST that..buuut.

Valve's announced that the PS3 version of Portal 2 will be quite chummy with its PC and Mac cousins come April 20, revealing full cross-platform compatibility: PS3 users can chat with Steam users, play multiplayer with them and even partake in cloud-based storage. The disparity between the PS3 and PC/Mac versions appears to be about non-existent now.

Additionally, those who pick up the PS3 game are ensured a free voucher for the Steam Play version of the game, should they link their PSN and Steam accounts. "We hope to expand upon the foundation being laid in Portal 2 with more Steam features and functionality in DLC and future content releases," said Valve's Gabe Newell.

Xbox sucks, and the PS3 is slowly taking over and making it obsolete.

I was going to get the PS3 or Steam version anyway, but am not sure if it will run on my PC. So this pretty much ensures I'll be pre-ordering the game come April 1st. ;) (Just hope the Gamestop employees don't think it's an April Fool's. :P)

Re: PORTAL 2 Confirmed. Update: April 20th, 2011 (Cross-platforming confirmed PS3)

As far as Portal, yeah, definitely thinking the Steam route is the way to go. I'll probably get the PC version... Xbox is great for Halo: Reach and as a home theater PC/media center, but no Steam connectivity kills the deal with Portal 2.

Re: PORTAL 2 Confirmed. Update: April 20th, 2011 (Cross-platforming confirmed PS3)

Not a huge fan of Valve but definitely gonna pick this up to encourage more of this :D

Um, where exactly do you get your info? That couldn't be farther from the truth.

Re: PORTAL 2 Confirmed. Update: April 20th, 2011 (Cross-platforming confirmed PS3)

Im not a big Xbox fan, but I wouldnt say its becoming obsolete.

Just because Valve is working with Sony and not Microsoft isnt enough ground to say that. :P

Re: PORTAL 2 Confirmed. Update: April 20th, 2011 (Cross-platforming confirmed PS3)

Well, maybe not "obsolete", but… :P

Re: PORTAL 2 Confirmed. Update: User-Created Content confirmed on both platforms.

Either PS3 or PC can have user-created content. :)

Re: PORTAL 2 Confirmed. Update: User-Created Content confirmed on both platforms.

Just another reason to pre-order the PS3 version. :)

Re: PORTAL 2 Confirmed. Update: User-Created Content confirmed on both platforms.

So I have a question…

If you buy the PS3 version, you get a free Steam VOUCHER? And you can only use that voucher if you have a Steam account and LINK the PSN and STEAM accounts together?

I was hoping to be able to gift the PC version to someone else on Steam.
So could anyone shed any light if they have any to shed?
Thanks. :)
