I'm so pissed right now- my dad sold the truck I learned to drive in today, and I won'y be allowed to drive the new truck.... fml.

In all honesty, that would be a total waste. For $4000+ you could easily get a desktop with top of the line everything, and much better performance. Alienware DOES make nice laptops, but IMO that is way too much to spend on a laptop. If you want a gaming PC and have $4000, go desktop.

Also Alienware is overpriced. It's like getting a pair of Air Jordan sneakers when you can get the same, non-namebrand shoes for 70% off.
 
Actually, I would say Alienware's laptops are pretty competitive price-wise. It's their desktops that are outrageous. Gaming Laptops are going to be more expensive due to having similar desktops parts but on a much smaller scale.
 
I'd never buy a gaming laptop. If you wanna game, buy a desktop. So much more flexible and it's just a better investment, IMO.
 
Laptops do have their advantages.

I use my desktop for serious gaming. Occasionally, I'll borrow my girlfriend's laptop for lower requirement games like Starcraft. Portability can be a good thing!

All the same, $4k for a gaming laptop is outragious. Even a very high end gaming machine can be done for $2k as long as you aren't going quad SLI or x-fire.
 
I should rephrase my statement and say I'd never buy a HIGH end gaming laptop. A nice mid range would be great, though, something that could handle the likes of Oblivion, STALKER, etc,.
 
i could run stuff like that if i had like another gig of ram and upgraded mah vidja card, something along those lines...

Anyway...i have finally got a guitar stick.
and an amp and amp head and a instrument cord. i need to get a cord for the amp to plug into the head though.

If i could take pics i would show you.
 
I think I'm gonna join the Mafia.That way I can take any game I want without paying. :D
 
Sooooooooo i just found out I was born before my parents were married and that my dad has been divorced before.

Amen! A good mid range laptop will only run $1000 to $1500 and is excellent for LAN parties where lugging a 75 pound full tower isn't practical.

Not even. You can get a nice one for $800 and up. Use the rest of the cash for games.

Thing is though i'm not going to be using the laptop just for gaming i'm going to be using it for a range of other stuff and also it's portable and i could take it on holidays so during the night i have something to do, i couldn't do that with a PC..well ok maybe i could but it would be a massive pain getting it packed and lugging it every where and also no PC looks as cool as an Alien Ware laptop :p.

I'm one of those people that if i buy a expensive lap top or desktop it has to look it.

The default price wasn't $4000+ it was something like $2000 but i customized it to what i wanted and also now that i'm getting paid alot and i got my debit card all i have to do is wait until i have enough money.

It's kinda funny because my parents had the exact some reaction and it's not really a waste if i'm happy with what i brought :p.
 
You're right, it really wouldn't be a "waste." I think "overpriced" nailed it though.

But you also have to remember, having a flashy looking laptop is more likely to attract thieves.
