PS2 and PS2 Slim

Because the technology had been out for several years and Sony had become more efficient at making it, so they could make it for cheaper and put it in a slimmer box.
 
And noone would have bought it if it was 300. lol

I am happy I got the slim one though. I really like it.

The Technology in it. The Blu-Ray Player (Main Factor), CPU, Graphics Card, Wireless WIFI, Bluetooth, etc... It is decently priced for what you get!

Actually that's kind of apples and oranges (hey I made a clever pun ;D). Chocolate and food and stuff goes up because of inflation while the PS3 is more expensive because it uses more expensive parts.

I remember back in the day when if people didn't have anything nice to say, they kept their mouths shut. I blame rap music.

Anyway, I like my slim PS2. Right now it just sits there because my PSX is getting more play (Yeah, I know. The PS2 can play those games. But it seems that some PSX games freeze in a PS2).
