PS2 freezing up and disk tray stops working

This is my favorite forum on the Citadel.
I was playing Guitar Hero 2 and the PS2 freezes up. When I go to turn off the disk tray won't open. Tips on how to fix it? My PS2 is about 4 or 5 years ago so its not new.......just extra info in case. :?
 
I take it's the oldschool breifcase one? My brother-in-law has one like it. Had the same problems and had to send it back to get refurbished. I have the slim, and haven't had any problems with the exception of some PSX games not working quite well on it.
 
i have mine sitting vertically (which they say you shouldnt do ::)) and i have had any trouble with it. i got it around the time kingdom hearts 1 came out.

thats what it is. :lol does it cost anything to get my ps2 refurbished? if it does......i'm gonna want until a few months. :lol

It might cost almost as much as just buying a new PS2 at this point. I would just buy a new one and save yourself the troubles.
 
Plus, if you buy the slim, it has the network adapter built right in.
 
OMG......I just fixed my PS2 by accident and all I have left is Tomb Raider....geez. :'( No memory card either. :(
 
Don't worry! Dr. Mega can fix it! I got my PHD last week! :D

I'm so happy, I can fix large PS2's and Xbox's now :)
