How does it work? And how much do they cost?

I think $20 used, but if you have a PS2 slim, it's built in.
 
How it works: You attatch it to the back of your system, it's easy, it screws on. You put in the network configuration disk and that info gets saved to a memory card. It will forget how to connect without the card in, unless you have the hard drive which tells it how to connect. After that, you're done and you can get online with it. I'm not sure how any of that actually works, I think it's going to depend on the game. I heard some negative reviews on it, but all of them compared it to XBL and they learned from that for the PS3.
 
actually, you dont need a network configuration disc, you can set up your network configuration using any online enabled playstation 2 game :)
