just curious about your opinions.

Honestly I don't think that the PS3 will be successful in the same way as the PS2 was. Hunch maybe?? My motive for this opinion may be because the price assumptions that are floating around are seemingly scaring people away. This will benefit the 360 and Revolution in a big way.
The other problem they will face is Sony is riding this wave of trying to use the latest and most powerful components. I remember reading about a race that was held in France, where the vastly underpowered Mini Cooper pounded the more powerful Ferarris, Alfas, Fords, etc. Sometimes being the most powerful doesn't necesarraly mean you will win the race.
I have my doubts. But Sony had better expect a very weak second or strong third.
Please keep the hate mail to a minimum. I own both PS1 and PS2, and don't own an Xbox or 360. And I don't care.![]()
I think it all depends if Sony can deliver the goods at a reasonable price, and if they do, expect all a lot of people who are supposedly scared away by the price come back in droves.
Dart said:This could be true. But another thing I was thinking about is Sony is a cut throat company. I read in the PSP forum that they announced a price drop for the PSP. But upon looking closer, they stripped everything out of the kit. It wasn't a price drop at all anymore. You pay less because you get less. When I bought my PS1, it wasn't out of brand loyalty. It was just there. With the PS2, I again didn't buy it because of brand loyalty. I bought it because of the game selection. If the Xbox had the same selection, I would have purchased an Xbox. My bottom line is that Sony is disenchanting the average gamer. The hard core Sony fan club may still buy a PS3. But the average gamer will most likely not.
