remember that topic about What system to buy? (Part 2 has been sloved)

MegaDrive20XX

Segatron Genesis... call me the wizard.
Ok, I came to the conclusion that i wanted a Cube...but things didn't fly right...and I actually didn't get anything =(

So here I sit... broken hearted...tried to take a dump...but only farted...

So Round 2...

After taking a break from games for about 3 weeks now (3rd week being today)

I have yet to reach a serious idea of where to go...maybe portable? a GBA perhaps?

or go back to old school with another Sega system?

Re: remember that topic about What system to buy? Yeah...that one..."Part 2"

If you want a new-school system with plenty of old-school games, the GBA is definately for you. And it's getting cheaper thanks to the DS.

Re: remember that topic about What system to buy? Yeah...that one..."Part 2"

Ya, they're actually priced really good right now. They've got a huge game library, including a ton of classic remakes and such, so I'm sure you'd enjoy it. However, if you're anything like me, the size of the screen can be annoying. I love how small they are, for portability reasons, but I can't play my GBA for more than an hour without having to squint my eyes. As well, GBA games by their nature aren't really all that immersive, and few support actual decent multiplayer modes, so keep that in mind.

What systems do you currently own at this time?

Re: remember that topic about What system to buy? Yeah...that one..."Part 2"

Yeah, a GBA SP is probably the best choice. You still get to play great Nintendo games that way.

Dude just buy a Dreamcast. Seriously. The DC has an enormous library of games..including many sonic titles as I am sure you know...they DC can emulate most of the classic systems with very good accuracy these days. There are many, many, MANY homebrew games for the DC thus upping the library even more. The DC has a huge amount of great 2D games, fighters, shooters, platformers, ect. The DC can play mp3s, DivX video, VCDs, ect...

Being a Sega fan like you are...just get a DC dude. Don't waste time on a GBA to play old NES games when you can play them on DC via an emu with 100% accuracy.

The DC is one of the greatest systems to have been released, I truely believe that, and still believe it bests the PS2. And there are still new games coming out for the DC all the time in Japan...and another great thing with DC..its easy to play imports on a US system, just use a boot disc that is available for free.

Re: remember that topic about What system to buy? Yeah...that one..."Part 2"

very excellent....and a strong statement.....looks like DC and GBA are neck to neck...

Re: remember that topic about What system to buy? Yeah...that one..."Part 2"

With GBA you get Sonic games that are better than the Sonic Adventure games!

JK, (although that is a true statement) it's up to you. I never liked the DC much personally.

Well with the GB you get the best of both worlds. Sega, especially sonic, games. And Nintendo games. Plus The GB is still being supported and has tons of games already.

Fact #1: You can play any Genesis, Master System, NES, SNES, Atari 2600, GBC, and Dreamcast games on a Dreamcast system and they will play 98-100% perfect.

Fact #2: The Dreamcast is still supported in Japan and new games do come out. The homebrew scene also supports DC much more than any other console, there are dozens and dozens of free homebrewed games for Dreamcast.

Fact#3: The GBA is a portable. Portable's are not very fun for extended amounts of play time due to the small screen and battery usage.

Fact#4: The best games available for the GBA are remakes of classic NES games. Which can be played on the Dreamcast with 100% accuracy.

Fact #5: Dreamcast is cheaper than GBA.

Fact #6: No other system has the amount of great fighting games made by SNK and Capcom as the Dreamcast.

Opinion #1: The Dreamcast owns the GBA :lol

Damn I just got owned. :o I need to study up on japanese games and systems.

Re: remember that topic about What system to buy? Yeah...that one..."Part 2"

Ya, I'm sold. The DC was a really good system, I just never really heard of many good games for it. I knew the sports games for it were top notch, but aside from that the only games I ever heard about were Sonic and Crazy Taxi, and I didn't really like either of those.

I would get a DC instead of a GBA just because of the fact that it is a console. A GBA can entertaing you for half an hour at a time, but a console game could keep you entertained well beyond that.

Re: remember that topic about What system to buy? Yeah...that one..."Part 2"

i was hesitant to say that whole being able to play all the nes games and such cause usually someone around here does not like that means. i thought psx was a pretty solid console too. granted DC is better specs wise, but psx had a lot more games i loved. and the controller. but then there wouldn't be a point getting a psx instead of a ps2 unless you really were low on total money.
if you're really concerned money wise, then i would go with the DC over a GBA. while gba's are cheap, the games are still decent in price while DC.... has ways

Alright, Im back and with good news...

I finally got a GameCube coming!

After deciding and trying to figure out what to do....a Dreamcast would be great, but I'm pretty easy to please, so I picked a Cube up, mint in the box (Jet Black) with a memory card for $60 shipped

So why did I choose a GameCube? I get my retro and new school in one nice little bundle...and pretty much every single Sonic game on the planet

thank you thank you, I picked up PSO on GameCube for $10, I kid you not...$10 mint condition, used, but looks great

I still would have gone with a DC though :lol.

Me too honestly. But there is a few must have titles on GC.... RE4, Paper Mario, Zelda WW, Metroid, ect.

But yah..I would've rather had a DC given the choice hehe.
