have they done camparisons to the cube version yet?

I am curious if they are keeping it the same... let alone, I am curious on what the sales figures will be.

Ive seen the comparisons. It looks like Capcom pulled it off. It's not as good as the GC but they do the game justice. Ill try to look for the page with the comparisons.

I couldn't wait for this to be released on PS2 so I went ahead and got a GC and RE4. I bet they just added some easter eggs or something in the PS2 release, nothing really major.

Actually they added a lot of stuff. There's now a section where you can play through as Ada and see the game from her point of view. It apparently adds a lot to the story. I would be very tempted to buy it except that I haven't actually finished the GC version yet.

I think I made a mistake buying the GC version, I might just buy the PS2 version as well..

mistake? It just sucks that they put more into the ps2 one than the GC one. BUT they had to, otherwise I guarantee it wouldn't sell that well.

They also did it because they can. If RE4 fills up a GC disk and a half, then it can most certainly fit with extras on a regualr PS2 CD. I believe this was Nintendo's main mistake this Gen.

maybe... but there had to have been left over room on those discs.

RARELY does a game take up 3 gig on the consoles.

Oh..Bv can't comeback on that one! I see I got another friend who digs Sony, finaly! lol @ Bv

Anyways, there's a feature where you can play as Ada Wong in the GC verison, not sure if its the samething as the PS2 verison but in the GC verison you start in the middle of the game and its really hard, I've yet to beat it.

Can anyone post some difference between the two? I mean go in detail.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight. Nobody would buy it right? Never mind all people who DON'T have GCs who would go out and buy this because it's now available for the PS2 - which is a hell of alot more people than who own a GC.

And let's look at the scores for the PS2 version shall we? From Game rankings

Only Sites in Bold Count towards the Average Ratio
Site Name / Link Quality Date Rating Ratio
Gamespy 10/28/2005 5 out of 5 100.0%
IGN 10/21/2005 9.5 out of 10 95.0%
GameSpot 10/24/2005 9.3 out of 10 93.0%
PSM Magazine 12/1/2005 10 out of 10 100.0%
GamePro 12/1/2005 4.5 out of 5 90.0%
Electronic Gaming Monthly 12/1/2005 9.5 out of 10 95.0%
Official Playstation Magazine 12/1/2005 5 out of 5 100.0%
Game Informer 11/1/2005 10 out of 10 100.0%
Game Zone 10/31/2005 9.5 out of 10 95.0%
Eurogamer 11/4/2005 9 out of 10 90.0%

Not one score there less than 90% - not even from Gamespot, who regularly score PS2 stuff 8-8.5

Never mind that the quality of the port appears to be top notch. Never mind the fact that it's getting great reviews for everything else BESIDES the extra content. The extra content just HAD to be added or NOONE would have bought it right?

Jesus Christ, give me a break!
You're just mad it's not a GC exclusive anymore.

Really, your hate on for Sony is getting lamer and lamer by the day.

I love the fact that it has extras and you're right it would've still sold even if it didnt. But of course the game is going to score that high. You dont even need to read those reviews in order to know that since it was already ranked so high for the GC. Unless Capcom completely screwed up, those scores shouldn't surprise anyone. I dont hate Sony, but I'm not happy it isnt exclusive either. Oh well you cant win them all.

The numbers... Make me happy... Anyway, I got the game, and everyday, there is gunshot noises from 4pm-6pm. It's that good.

If that's true, then why are there so many PS2 and Xbox, but not GC games?  We all know that there are about as many Xbox users (okay, a little more) as there are GC users, so it's not that it wouldn't be as profitable.

Games like Splinter Cell 3 had to take up 2 disks, and still lost almost all of the extras.  Few extra paths, dumbed down multiplayer, etc.

I say mini-discs were a bad idea altogether.

An all expenses paid trip to Canada. Go you!

except.... the Gamecube version is still (by far) outselling the Ps2 version :lol

wait... did neph just post?  I thought he left for good.  welcome back neph  :D  I know how to get neph to post... just hate on Sony :lol
and yes, I will forever hate Sony.  I hope the rev and Xbox totally bend over Sony this next round.  If the Cube can't be #1.. I'd like to see the Box be #1.

You're just mad it's not a GC exclusive anymore.
~ actually... I don't really care.  ::) I think it sucks that they put more time and effort into the Ps2 version.

@ nova - I was mistaken, the discs for the Gamecube are around 1.5-1.7 gig I believe... not 3.
So that would be a lot of the difference.  I mean, a lot of the PC games today are 3-5 gig.... console games aren't as large as PC games (at least from what I understand).

I think I can safely say it would of sold just as well either way. It's ranked as the number 1 PS2 game of all time. Come on BV, you've gotta be the most biased person i've ever met, lol.

I want the PS2 version because it's clearly superior due to all the extras. It's a shame that Capcom couldn't sell both versions at the same time.

well... with RE being that good of a game, it better be ranked pretty high.  I am not denying it is a good game either.  My point was, IF there wasn't an incentive like extras.... do you think it would have sold as well?  I know a lot of Ps2 players that bought Gamecubes just for Resident Evil 4 (since it was supposed to be cube exclusive).  Honestly, I don't give one hoot and hollar anymore that it is out on the PS2... nor that the ps2 version is good.  It would be nice to get the extras on a Gamecube system, and see them spend the time on games so that they look and play nice.  Hey, even the Xbox gets the short end of the stick at times.

I am not necessarily biased... its more that I don't like Sony :lol
If you would have know me 10-12 years ago,  I was probably one of Sony's largest fans... I loved their products.

You see, this goes beyond any issue here, it is not "Just because I like Nintendo... or whatever."  I used to be biased against Sega because they were against Nintendo.... it was the whole Nintendo Vs. Sega thing.  But I do like the Dreamcast.... and I own a nomad, dreamcast, saturn, and one other thing that slips my mind right now.  It wasn't because I didn't like their games or products.... I really liked some of their games (especially general chaos, that game was very cool).

Sony.... I won't buy their products anymore.  If I can find an alternative (even if the quality is a little less), I will buy the alternative.
I now use Olympus for cameras, Toshiba for TV's, IBM for laptops, Build my own PCs, Citizen for watches, Microsoft for MANY things... etc.  The only thing Sony left here is my DVD player that was given to me.  And even that has begun to malfunction.  I won't buy Philips and more because we bought that as a replacement DVD (with VHS) and the DVD already went shot on it.  Philips / Magnavox used to make killer items, but anymore... I'm not real happy with them.  If it is any consolation, I did buy a PSP to give them a 10th chance (or whatever)... I had many games for it, but I sold them all and I am down to 2 games.  I really like Twisted Metal on the PSP... but that is it.  I had coded arms, darkstalkers, puzzle bobble (not bad), puyo pop (not bad), wipeout pure (I couldn't stand it), mercury (still have it, but it doesn't get played much), Ridge Racer (It wasn't bad), and a couple others.  I would have liked coded arms more... but the darn thing was just too hard to control.  The only reason I like some of the FPS games on the DS is because you can use the touch screen as the mouse look. I didn't pay $250 for a frisbee, so I'd like to keep the frustration down on this one.

lol @ Bv's hate towards Sony! I can't believe you! :lol

I got to re-read your last post again, made me burst out in laughs.
