Retailers Estimate Xbox 360 Failure Rate High as 33 Percent

I think mine might be a 33.5% lol

It's had some hiccups, but I've been really starting to take care of it recently cause my warranty is up now... The disc tray still does its own thing, but other than that it's fine...

Ive only had one problem with mine it over heated and every time i would put any game in as soon as i started it it would freeze.
 
Well other than the disc tray randomly opening (and sometimes refusing to open), I haven't had any hardware problems... I think I might go to the rental place and see if it's just my disc that won't read... (and maybe do a little switcheroo if it works :P)
 
I believe it.

My launch 360 was defective. Had the three red lights of doom, even! I got another launch system in a different batch of serial numbers and so far it's been ok. It's only acted up a few times.

no if ur disc wont read, a message will come up displaying it, the tray wont open

also, one time i put my oblivion in, and it said "please insert this disc into an xbox 360 console" i was like wtf

No, that's a whole different problem all together. I can't even start a new game.

The disc tray randomly opening and closing is only a problem when I'm on the dashboard for some reason... It's mildly annoying since if a game is in there it'll load it...
 
Neither my Elite or regular 360 acted up on me. None of my friends have had defective 360's either.

And making circles under the game disk is a user error. If you move the 360 with a game spinning, it will happen.
