i really don't care whether it has voice acting or not.... is the writting that matters... even the best voice actors in the world cannot help poorly written dialogue

I think you must mean, that they cant help "games with extremely flawed localization*" I dont see anygame having bad dialogue.

there's games with poor writting... not only localization

What's Up!

Have any of you ever played an "RPG",or any game I guess, that you found too predictable with respect to it's storyline,or any other aspects?

P.S. Why is it that the "Spell Check" sometimes underlines in red, words that aren't misspelled?

God Bless,

I've played RPG's that started off predictable..then a huge twist throws everything I was expecting out the window. One most notably would be Tales of Symphonia.

perfect example.

i rarely play RPGs with a predictable story... i am sure i have but.....i can't remember (probably because they weren't memorable games in the first place XD)

I totally agree with that statment.

Aren't all RPG's a little cliche' in parts? It's only natural; but it's the actual story it tells that sets them apart from each other and gives a new experience for gamers everywhere to enjoy, depending on their own tastes, of course. :)

It's true what Hell says. Most rpgs are cliche in some aspect.

That's why it's a good idea to finish the game so you see the whole story. ^_^

I've had games where I didn't particularly like an aspect of the story, but then I get to the end and I see where it all ties up, and it's like "Wow that was awesome."

Diablo is LEGENDARY though. lol

If you think of it... an RPG (or pretty much any game these days) is just like a novel; but that you're involved in it at a gaming level.

In my opinion yes.

Don't get me wrong, today's features are nice and convenient, but that's just my point. Some members may laugh, but "FF1" for the nes was the most difficult RPG I've ever played. The word's "Gas Dragon" and "War Mech" still give me the shivers. :lol

I find that games these day, in generally, arn't so challenging as they were many years back... but I have two theories on why.

1) Games just aren't what they used to be.

2) "We", long time gamers, have become too good and these days it has to be on it's hardest for a real challenge.

Take your pick.

@Hellbro, I'll take choice 2.

We have way too many psycho gamers these days. We play hard, we win hard, and we try too hard to get everything.

Plus, imho these companies are trying to push these new RPGs on the younger audiences to rekindle the RPG craze that everyone adored in the early and late 1990's. So far, it's doing very well.

I was going to pick another character, until I started "Radiata Stories" and noticed a character named "Jarvis".The turd is wearing a helmet with a double edged axe on it.Whoever was in charge in making this character had to be on something. An axe on your helmet,c'mon ::D

Hi All,

I have one huge "Pet Peeve" when it comes to some RPG's.

Say you are playing "FF7" and your character was at level 60 and you devoted hours and hours to get this far,and your character has around 5000 HP.You are walking down a path and notice a treasure chest, you get a little excited because you're so far into the game, that it has to be awesome. And low and behold it's the lowest kind of healing potion known to man, which might restore 100 HP.

Who in the hell needs that at level 60? ::D

When I think about, most RPG's are still pretty challenging, at least the ones I have played recently. I think RPG's have gotten better at telling you where to go next, or your next objective, but I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing.
