You already sound like a Nintendo posterboy.
But since so far no one has really answered your question, I'll attempt to do so.
For example, if you have a lot of friends you'd like to party down with - Wii hands down for the wiin. Example: I took my Wii over to a friend of mine's house, Andrew, who has quit gaming since June. He's tired of "bad ass bandanna guy snydrome". I let him play Wii last week and he's hooked. He's "back" as one were to say (I've been telling him this for a year now, and even convinced him to buy Nintendo stock, which he has made several hundred dollars off of).
So he decied to have a party with Wii. We had only four people, but that's all you really need (5 would have been odd, 6 would work, etc - depends on the game). We spent 8 hours straight playing random miscelleaneous stuff. Mostly Wii sports because we're all big Wii Bowling and Wii Tennis fans. We took a single hour's break to get food, but even that we put off for hours because no one wanted to move.
I haven't done shit like this since the Nintendo 64 with titles like Golden Eye, Mario Kart, etc.
Make no mistake, it's going to bring a lot of lapsed/tired games back about, while bringing new people in to the fold (my mother's boyfriend, who's nearly 60 can't get enough of the golf simulation, despite it being so rudimentary). It's all about the fact that you're physically swinging the controller. It changes the paradigm and invents new ideas, thoughts ,and makes things so much more real and immersive. I -know- so many people I grew up with who quit gaming (while I didn't) are going to love this system.
And on the same side of the coin, people who love games are going to love this system. You can't even hold a straight face if you're trying to say "Nintendo will only make party games/forkids/adults/everyone/whateverbull" because it very clearly launched with Zelda. It's unlikely my mother's boyfriend will be playing Zelda. Furthermoer, what about games like Metroid Prime? Again, more steep learning curve, not for "everyone". Nintendo is still going to cater to those fans of "games", but it will merely have a broader audience.
All that said, I'd like you to tell me what YOU like in a game/system/etc. What are your all time favorites? Single player/multiplayer favorites? Etc. I can better aid you then.
But without regard, I will say you cannot go wrong with Wii.
